What an overwhelming and frustrating read.
The frustration here comes from the unfortunate exclusion of the female sex in our society, because the book itself is incredible well-researched. It discusses important issues and I personally was not aware of most of them. They affect women's lives on a daily basis, and I am glad I read it. I think more people should be aware of these occurences, and this book will surely help. The book did read very much like a research paper, which made the experience of reading it less enjoyable and boring at times. A wide range of topics is discussed which can come across as overwhelming. On the other hand, the important topics are repeated throughout the book. This is both a contributor to the boredom as well as a helpful guide through the sheer amount of data discussed.
A lot of the criticism this book gets comes from the author's exclusion of trans and non-binary people, and I understand the frustration. But I also believe that a lot of the issues discussed talk about the female body and physique, which would make it difficult to include people that identify with another gender. I think the author could indeed have alluded to and mentioned the existence of these people, but I think most of the research discussed is still applicable for people assigned female at birth.
3/5, lowered mostly by my enjoyment.

This was an excellent and very eye-opening book. As a woman, I knew a lot of these situations were happening, but seeing the actual data back it up was both validating and extremely frustrating. This was very data heavy, and I wish there was more about what we can do about the disparities the author was discussing, but it's important information that I wish everyone was aware of.
