Like the title suggests, this book has few words & the drawing does the talking. Beautiful depiction of two generations coming together despite the language barrier & cultural differences, to find common ground. Love the blend of the drawing styles. So beautiful and poignant! But beyond the dialogue, I can't fathom why there are any words at all. This would have worked so well--dare I say better--as a wordless picture book. Still lovely as it is, though!
I don't care how old or young you are, you must read this book. Doesn't matter how or where you were raised, this book will touch your heart.
There are no words to describe this book & it even proves that sometimes, you don't need words.

Richly illustrated this story shows the barrier between a boy and his grandfather. Grandpa doesn't speak English and they can't really communicate until they realize they both share a love of drawing and illustration so together they create an amazing tale and their language barrier is dismantled. A story that is meant to be read over and over again to fully appreciate it. A nearly wordless book that is wonderful to share with child of all ages.
Powerful message about connecting without language. Profound.
