Daughter of the Pirate King was an unexpected delight and I couldn't wait to get my hands on the sequel. Overall, I wasn't disappointed in how the plot progressed and ultimately concluded, but I do think there was not enough of Alosa and Riden being together in this book. I started speed reading so I could get to the part when they finally worked through their shit. I really appreciated that the author had each character go through their own growth, but since this is just a duology it means there was barely any time spent with Alosa and Riden being happy and together. I'm just a sucker for cutesy romances and wanted more of that!! Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed it!! This book and all the characters are badass and I'm super interested in reading more from Tricia Levenseller.

The only thing I didn't like is there was some mild fatphobic language in this book (and the first one as well).

all of these characters need to be aged up at least 5 years 😭 why is a 19yo talking like that—nonetheless a speedy, entertaining read and a satisfying end to alosa’s arc. again it’s reallyyyy not the most well-written book and some of the plot points are so forced, but it was engaging as hell and i genuinely felt the tension and fear of the race from the pirate king ! plus the side characters are so lovable
