This is one of the few books I can honestly say changed my life. Everything about this book resonated within my heart and soul and lead to so many personal changes. I love Francine Rivers, and I love this story so much!
This is a great series. I give books 1 and 2 - 5 stars and book 3 - 4 stars. I enjoyed all three books and would recommend reading them all. I just enjoyed the first two books more than the third.
I read and rated this as a deeply-entrenched evangelical teenager, so take that into consideration.
Fabulous Biblical fiction. Rivers knows her Bible and the ancient history that goes with it. As you read you walk through history, the Bible..and can see why Paul wrote as he did to the Romans and the Corinthians, and the Ephesians....and her understanding of ancient pagan religions is top notch..l..It is the story of a Jewish slave girl taken in the fall of Jerusalem in 69 AD..her story is a griity tale of the vice of ancient Rome, Corinthians and Ephesus that gives the reader a clear understanding of the rise of the early Christians and all they were up against.
I read 3/4 of this series. The first two I could not put down. They revolved around the same main character. The third involved another character and I just couldn't seem to get into his story.
It is historical fiction set during the Roman time period when the first church started. Whiile I read this series I kept picturing the movie Gladiator. Good read. If you read the last book, let me know how it was!

I never thought Christian fiction books would ever be good, but I have to admit that Francine Rivers is one of the best Christian writers I know of. These three books in the trilogy are wonderful and my favorite is A Voice In the Wind.
