I loved this book. It's quite funny, but not all fun because Ms. West addresses a lot of really tough subjects. But I love reading her thoughts.

I related to a lot of what was discussed in this book. Some of it I obviously couldn’t relate to and I understand why she wrote about it, but it wasn’t what I was expecting to read about. This is also very much not intersectional( I feel like I’m using the wrong word). It’s kind of white feminism, but not if that makes sense.

This book inspired me and validated me in all the ways I didn’t know I needed! If you are a plus size woman, READ THIS BOOK! Also, I listened to the audiobook and hearing Lindy read it herself definitely added to the enjoyment for me!

I finally got around to listening to this book after putting it off and putting it off. I have seen Lindy West be a guest on several shows, and absolutely adored the Hulu show created on the basis of this book. I loved this book cover to cover, part social commentary on suxh things as why rape jokes aren't funny, abortions are nobody's business, and fat people deserve to live normal lives too. There were also stories from West's life, upbringing and experiences. This book made me laugh heartily but also tear up at times. The content was relatable and when it wasn't I still felt like West succeeded at helping me understand why it was important and worth critical analysis. West is a gifted writer who can balance humor and satire with sternness and rage in such an eloquent manner as to keep the reader engaged. I recommend listening to the audio because West narrates it herself.

There's no doubt that Lindy West has a strong, impassioned voice. Her honesty in the face of a great deal of trauma is really remarkable. I especially loved the parts where she untangled the knots of grief and lessons learned in childhood. Some of the essays just made me... so angry?? Which I guess is the point, but man, I can't believe so many humans are so awful. The story about talking to her troll was really moving, and I wish it was a more common occurrence. A solid, bold read.
