I didn't like the way he spoke to her in the beginning, even if it was true but a yearning man? BEGGING her to take him back!? Yes please and thank you.

This was so cute.

Alec, H: Handsome, driven, alpha, possessive, jilted

Elena, h: ivy league educated, down on her luck, fallen rich girl to poor girl.

I loved the H (such a dirty talker!) I sense a theme in my life. Should I add it to my dating profile

this was an alright read. it had a lot of really great lines in it about love, but honestly i felt like the storyline was pretty cringy. the MC and honestly all of the rest of the characters are incredibly immature, especially for how old they are supposed to be. the dialogue is really choppy at times, even though the quotes about love were really pretty decent. the spicy scenes were spicy, but repetitive and i would have enjoyed something different than the same thing happening every single time. alec was possessive but i still didn’t love his characters as much as i normally love possessive, rich love interests. elena is a strong independent women, but she’s so immature at the same time. alec and elena’s relationship thrives on their miscommunication and that frustrated me so much. overall, the book itself was alright but there were a lot of things that really bugged me while i was reading that inhibiting me from fully enjoying it.

“and that’s where the danger lies… elena makes me want to give her the world.”

Easy read

Alec and Elena are a whirlwind romance for sure. The story was short and sweet but I definitely could have seen more of a plot happening. But like I said, easy read and finished it within a few hours.

i’m trying really fkn hard to get through books that aren’t as good as my favs but god forbid it be actually written well with at least some type of plot. i’ve read fanfiction better than this. it is so cringey and ?? awkward?

there is no spark between the MMC & FMC, only a small history. the FMC needs money, the MMC has it. don’t get me wrong, i LOVE a billionaire MMC but this was so wrong on so many levels. i also internally coil up inside myself when a MMC who isn’t in the mafia or in a fantasy novel says ‘i’ll kill anyone who lays a hand on you’. like dude, you’re a high profile celebrity, there’s no way.

also??? the photo of the MMC & his ex fiancé (who is now engaged to his rival (and ironically the FMC’s brother)) on his beside table??? ew

the dialogue? pathetic
it’s genuinely like a teenager wrote this & had an adult come in to write the smut. i haven’t read any of the authors other works, and i hope i can and it be different from this. i dnf the fine print by lauren asher but liked the dirty air series so i have some hope.

to be fair, i didn’t stick it out till the end, but based on some of the other reviews, i’m glad i didn’t. the plot doesn’t seem worth the effort

anyway, time to go read another mafia book to make myself feel better
