Only giving it 3 stars because the duet narration was decent. The actual story was so cringy with not much character depth and extremely predictable. Alec character was not good and Elina was annoying for most of the book.

I enjoy arranged marriage tropes and this book was a nice read.
Alec's delightfully possessive but his hot/cold attitude towards Elena was irritating. Elena's the typical heroine with all the sweetness and light that makes people love her (except me and the villains of the story). In the end, she grows something of a backbone, but it's a little too late for me to really like her.
Also, a lot of the dialogue was cringe.
I still gave it 3 stars because I did like the book as a whole.

I want to preface this by saying I love Cat Maura writing. It flows, it’s bold and it’s always spicy. She had me hooked by this book, the trauma that the fed goes through to take care of her mm, just desperate to stay above water. And the Mac swooping in to get revenge while just also happening to help her. It’s sort of interesting when they first got together I thought he seemed truthfully uninterested in revenge on her brother but then when it came down to it and she was leaving he seemed broken but it’s not like he gave any indication that he cared for her as more than a tool for revenge against her brother. All of this made for a perfect book truly. What brought it down down the 4 stars was his grovelling which felt very forceful but then her reaction to it. He finally gets to the end f his grovelling and he is going to let her move on and then suddenly boom she is back in and wants to be with hi, again. Didn’t love how that happened.
