This book took the enemies to lovers theme VERY seriously and I honestly had a hard time with Bowen being the MMC because of some of the shit he pulled. The FMC was about what you’d expect of a 23 year old witch with immense powers - and no control over them; reckless, impulsive, and naive. I can usually invest in an age gap romance, but she was just so much younger than him in personality (although he had some maturing to do) that I occasionally got the ick.

I did like the continued world building and story building that took place in this book. Each installment makes me love and hate different characters, and helps me understand underlying motivations. It a well woven tale, even if it was not my favorite installment.

Spice: 4.5/5

Triggers: dubcon, survival scenarios, grief, parental abandonment

Wow! Robert Petkoff might possibly be my favorite narrator! He brought Presley Cole's story truly to life! I couldn't get enough of Bowen💞

I love werewolves.

This series has me in a complete death grip. Like I am flying through them because they’re heaven. On to the next one!

Bowen is such a tortured soul. To have his "mate " ripped from him tragically, then to fall for a witch, who he'd been raised to despise the whole faction. Wow. Loved the progression of Mari growing inti her powers. Shes the badass now. The love scenes are hot, and there's plenty of chemistry, laughs, flirting, action and danger. Great book

Oh the misogyny.
Bowen didn't want a witch for a mate. He got one and despite being advised to accept her still forced her not to practice magic... But she's a witch.
He was also really dumb always insisting she'd cast a spell on him. He's also really selfish.
So far the lykae have been worse than the vampires.
Also I'm starting to see a pattern with these stories.

Another "some-some" character... Ugh! Also, if you're going to write about Louisiana, know that we don't eat "crayfish" - whatever that nasty sounding thing is. We eat crawfish and other weird animals. I get that Louisiana (and New Orleans, specifically) are great settings for mystical and legendary creatures, but at least do some research into our foods before embarrassing yourself with something so blatantly obvious. It's almost as bad as the "some-some" slang - maybe worse.
