Battle Ground

This is a good one.

I felt that “Peace Talks” was a more well-crafted concise story, but I appreciated the fact that Butcher was able to play with all of the various supernatural characters in this one, compared to where you would see maybe a handful of them in a single novel.

I’m looking forward to experiencing what happens next for Harry Dresden.

Happy reading, everybody!

Hells Bells!

The wizard of Chicago and all the supernatural collide from page 1. This arc took its time in coming but hell this was one hell of a book.

I have to admit, this was an unexpected low point in the series for me. This was true mostly because the vast majority of the book was just a battle, and while the first book had been great and fun build-up, this second one was much more about the logistics and dynamics of that battle in ways that were, honestly, a bit repetitive and dull. Listening to so many descriptions of how awe inspiring, awesome, or beautiful someone or something is gets old after a while when it's applied to everything.

The story itself was good as usual, and I still enjoyed it overall, but I found myself with the sense that the first half of this story, in the previous book, was vastly superior to this one.

This was an awesome book. I am still unclear why Peace Talks and Battle Ground are separate books, but whatever Peace Talks was setting up for, Battle Ground more than delivered.

In this book the battle between the signatories to the Unseelie Accords and the Fomor, led by the Titan Ethniu unfolds. We see beings, magics and legends as never before and new legends being made. Most of the side characters we love and know are here and so much happens in this book.

This book made me Whoop and hype the most, but it also made me cry the most out of all the Dresden files books. Butcher doesn't pull his punches on any of it and I loved it. If I could give it 6 stars I would. Philosophically the Dresden files it not the most sophisticated series, but it is one of the best reading experiences I ever head and this book was awesomest and bestest. If you just finished Peace talks, start reading now. If you're anywhere else in the Dresden Files, go pick up wherever you left and get to this book. Enjoy!
