The first book was better but this was a great continuation, regardless. The adventure, twists and turns, and the danger of it all was so fun. I would recommend this series heartily, especially to fans of things like Six of Crows

Finishing Namesake made me feel like I was saying goodbye to friends.

I didn't want this to end, I deliberately took my time in the final chapters to prolong my read, I could of happily continued reading they're stories and where they all ended up.

I loved Fable and was hesitant going into Namesake hoping it wasn't going to let Fable down, it absolutely did not.

There were points I was holding my breath not knowing how they were going to get out of situations, I was sweating at some stages, I felt ALL the emotions while reading this.

The characters were in-depth, with emotion and back stories that made you love and care for them, the friendships and relationships felt relastic, the emotions they felt weren't over the top or lack luster, it was exactly what you would expect to feel in that situation.

The complex relationship between Fable and Saint was heartbreaking, raw and beautiful, and I loved that we got to see a softer side to Saint at the end.

West is my new fictional boyfriend and I will physically fight anyone for that sweet tortured boy, he deserves to be protected at all costs!

"Namesake" is the second book of Fable, and it lives up to its prequel. The magic is there, the whole irate-navy sea adventure atmosphere is there and the dynamic main character is also ready for new adventures. The story is fairly well paced and uses the plot twists well. I also enjoyed the theme of father daughter relationship that the book promoted. Also, the use of old characters was pretty clever. However, when it came to romance, it felt like things were being repeated. Still, the writing was great, the characters interesting and everything got nicely wrapped up.

This continuing tale of pirates, gem hunters, lovers, and personal wars had an edge, a sharp one. Fable will learn some shocking information. If you read the last book you know she was left a bit stranded. Well that does not go well for her, and it gets worse. She might have to sell her soul to save something she loves. There is so much in the balance and she has no idea of what’s being played.
Fable has grown up a lot since the first book. She’s not so soft in this book, good thing too because she needs to be. It was coming at Fable trying take her down all through the book. If they didn’t want to own her, they wanted to use her, lie to her and manipulate her. The past was not the truth she thought it was, oh the lies !
West, he is not the man he appeared to be. I still struggle with the relationship. I never did get where it grew from but it’s there and strong. He revealed himself more and what is shown isn’t pretty. I’m still on the fence on him, he reads a bit obsessive to me. We’ll see
I really enjoyed this book much more than book 1. In that book I struggled believing in these characters. This one was more evolved. The action was intense, and believable. The struggles were heartbreaking and the moments of joy heartwarming. I look forward for the next book in the series
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review

Thanks to a fellow booknerd who told me this book was available as a direct-read on NetGalley I got my hands on it straightaway.

I had just bought Fable so obviously had to read that one first. And where I wrote in my review on the first book that it started off a bit slow and then rushed towards the end and left me wanting more, Namesake dives right in and picks up where things were left in Fable.

The pace is quick, the excitement is real and I absolutely love Fable and the world she lives in.
A lot of characters from the first book reappear in the second one.

However much I love the world Adrienne Young has built, and how much I like Fable... to me it wasn't clear what the plot was and where the story was going. It sometimes felt a bit like there were way more ideas/stories to be told but were either edited out or just not written.

This is a book that makes you think about what you would do for family, bloodbound or chosen. Which I really liked.
There is romance, but I just didn't get West. I couldn't connect to him at all, couldn't pin point what he was all about.

All in all I really liked this duology but in a way I hope there will be some side stories about some of the other characters to maybe get a little bit more of a complete story feel.
