So, this is the second time I read this book and I'll admit I liked it a little bit better. The fact that now I'm envisaging Grey as Jamie Dornan has nothing to do with it. Maybe.
I'm still aware of the many problems this book has, and that Anastasia is just a no-character, however, I won't deny that I enjoy reading this books and that they are a page-turner for me. Oh well. Sue me.

Third time reading this. I don't remember how many stars I gave to it last time, but well, there it is. Writing is shite, as always, but I still find myself very much enjoying the love story. And please, don't get started with the abusive relationship. I wrote a paper on that. However,

I'm gonna go with the author in this one, because yes, Grey is creepy as fuck. Yes, Anastasia is stupid as fuck. But everything that they do is consensual!
Every time Grey is like

Anastasia is like

Honestly, after watching the movie even I entertained the idea of letting myself be spanked by this creeper. I mean, have you seen Jamie Dornan?
Anyways, this was not a really a review. Still, there it is.

writing this review right after i finished the book and i-
This started out pretty rough for me, I thought I wasn’t going to be able to finish it. It picks up a little after the first 25%. It’s everything you’d think it is. It’s cringey and stalkerish and intense and still a little cheesy. Maybe a 2.8 stars for me. With that being said, don’t come for me if I read the second one
UPDATE: Here is the link to my review where I try to sound like a rational adult in addressing what I disliked about this book.
After hearing enough arguments of how this was horrible...without giving me a solid reason as to why it was horrible...I finally just sat down and read it with the intent of writing a thorough response review. I have written that review, but it's still in the editing phase so for now I'll just have to give a much shorter blurb here.
In a nutshell: There is nothing "worth it" in this book unless all you're looking for is a book that has explicit sex, and even then...it's somehow not intimate but instead repulsive. Definitely not romantic. (I don't actually think the sex is even the biggest issue with the book, but that's another argument for another time once my "proper" review is finished.)
As most people have stated, the writing is crap, the characters are flat and selfish. Ana is a manipulative doormat and Grey is an abusive, controlling and possessive [expletive here]. Their story is contrived and fueled off stupid decisions that show no respect for human life and personal weaknesses that neither side show any sign of overcoming. Fifty Shades of Grey is humiliating, degrading and depressing.
All-in-all, I'm glad I read it if not exclusively so I can say all that *points above* without getting the "you haven't read it!" flack. However, I'm also incredibly irritated that this thing is what passes as mainstreamly desirable literature. #nohopeforhumanity #nohopeforfiction
I'll edit this review later with the link to my real, in-depth review.

This book was HORRIBLE, for more reasons than one.
Let's start off with the main reason being that the writing was poor. I feel as though any person without formal education in general or in writing could have written this book. At times I felt that maybe even I could have written this book and it would have come out better than what the author wrote herself. I hate to bash this book because I really hoped I would enjoy it and had very high expectations for it but unfortunately DID NOT.
The author was very repetitive with some of the words she used to describe feelings of surprise, excitement, or sensual/sexual events... i.e "holy hell/holy shit, delicious".
I felt that this being an "Erotic Novel" for "mature audiences" that she would be a lot less prude when describing sexual acts as opposed to using words or phrases like: "he touched me THERE" when she probably should have used the word "vagina" or other similar words. I definitely didn't feel like this was in any way an erotic novel and that's saying a lot because I've never read one but quickly went ahead and purchased a $.99 short story off bn.com to compare and contrast, and just as I had suspected it was no where near what an erotic novel should sound like. It was very Rated PG 13, watered down, and squeaky clean.
There were a few other things I didn't enjoy about this book but I won't continue to list them all... you can check out my review for this book at: http://youtu.be/hFBdMhgmDLY

I think a piece of my heart died when this piece of incredibly lackluster writing took the place of Harry Potter as the most sold book in the world ( I cannot remember if that includes or excludes the Bible?!)
