LOVED the first third of the book, then liked the second and final act less and less.

I don’t have a problem with unlikable characters, and obviously that was the point here. But the character languished at the expense of the description, and the nearly full acceptance of Rita despite what should have been a huge recall of Bonnie’s trauma made no sense given the extremity of all of Bonnie’s other responses. I know a lot of people have a problem with the dog, but that was actually a moment where I paused to appreciate the literary parallelism between the dog and Bonnie.
