The second book in the Mortal Instruments series is consistent to the first book; with the action, drama and humor.
It introduces many new characters out of which my favourites were Maryse and Robert Lightwood and the Queen of Seelies- the latter who kind of annoyed me. Another character that annoyed me was Inquisitor Herondale.
In terms of relationships, Jace and Clary are still trying to figure where they stand with eachother amidst the revelation in the latter part of the first book which was a total plot twist. Isabelle and Clary seem to have found a common ground with eachother. And Alec is still a bit skeptical of her.
The plot continues with Luke becoming a recurring character- to become the 'responsible adult'- and Simon going though an even crazier transformation.
More secrets with relation to Valentine and The Circle is put forward. Clary discovers a new ability- in a rather funny way making it more hilarious because it is centered around Alec- and the Seelie Queen hints at the fact that Clary and Jace may have been experimented on.
There are several ends that I feel like don't meet. New plot lines are drawn and what confused me the most was amidst the final battle Jace is privy to a secret told to him by- none other than- Inquisitor Herondale, who had a strong dislike towards him from the start.
All in all; the drama, the action, the well placed humor and slow burn romance lines (specially between my favourites #malec ) gives great support to #cassandraclare 's well crafted Shadow World.

Lo bien que me lo he pasado montando teorías en mi cabeza en base a lo que recordaba de hace años. La verdad es que el primer libro me gustó más pero lo he disfrutado muchísimo igual.
I read book one of this series about a year ago give or take. It was recommended to me by my niece. If you read that review you will see that it was an ok book but I found it a bit young for me. The characters in that book kept being stressed as 14-16 years old. Definitely a young adult book.
Recently my daughter insisted I come with her to the City of Bones movie. Those same characters are not portrayed as kids in the movie which made the story easier for me to accept.
Then my daughter made me promise to read book two. So I did. Being able to envision these characters as older made reading this book much easier. There are not near as many references to their ages in the second book.
This book is broken into three parts. Part one and part three I found to be very enjoyable. Plenty of action and story development.
Part two nearly ruined this story for me. I came close to walking away from it. Part two is a never ending episode of the young and restless soap opera. It just goes on and on and on about nothing. The relationship between Clary, Jace and Simon. I love you, I love him, no I really love you, well maybe both of you would be ok too.
Seriously, get over this part of the story. Go defeat the evil and get on with it. In fear of this ridiculousness carrying on in the next books I was unable to promise my daughter that I would read them. I may have to put another year between book two and three I don't think I could stomach it in the very near future.
