Read for r/fantasy 2024 book bingo: alliterative title :)

My favorite of the trilogy! Finally meeting Adrian is worth the wait, and I love him so, so much. This story involves a lot of discussion of mental illness, and it’s treated with such realism and respect that elevates the story beyond the plot and the characters (both of which are wonderful). Like the first two, I strongly recommend listening to the audiobook for this series, as the narrators are really talented. The ending was so satisfying and well done, though I secretly hope it’s not the last we hear of the Montagues!

2.5 really Always enjoy a Christian Coulson reading. Finished this series on the prevailing goodwill of the 1st book. This one was....definitely not the best one, but there was enough there about the siblings to get through. I get the point was to show an experience of mental illness, but that was repeated so often that the same descriptions were about half the book, which left barely half to try to have some plot. If this was the first, wouldn't have finished the series, but fine that I did

I love these goddamn siblings

Baby Adrian is all grown up and doesn't even know about his siblings... yet! But, he will soon meet up with Monty -- and, later, Felicity -- as he undertakes an adventure of epic proportions. I am sad that this saga has come to an end, but I assure you that people who enjoyed the earlier adventures of the Montague Siblings will not be disappointed.

I think what worked for the first book in this series and was the underling reason why the rest fell flat is the fact that the first one took tropes from pretty much every Romantic novel and did them all. Highwaymen, pirates, gothic castles, women secretly becoming doctors, forbidden romance, mysterious aliments. The plot was overflowing with elements and adventures barely slowing down at any point. However in this and the previous book the plot is paired back and it gives the sense that over the course of this not short novel nothing happens.

Also this is meant to take place 20 years later and all the characters all speak exactly like they did at 20 with no distinctive voice to themselves.

I love the montague siblings and Mackenzi Lee! She is a brilliant writer! Couldn’t put the book down and finished in 2 days. I laughed out lots several times. It made me happy to see familiar characters. I’m glad we finally to meet the Goblin Adrian and loved his interactions with Monty and Felicity. I would love a pov from Monty when they first met. I’m sad this series is over.

Things that are getting me through this semester:

1) coffee
2) more coffee
3) the thought of this book
4) occasional flirting with sleep

It's been a hot minute since I read the first two books in this series, and I think I had forgotten just how much I love them all. The Montague siblings truly hold my heart and falling in love with Adrian in this third book was such a ride. My pure, cinnamon bean, who just wants to get along with the siblings he never knew he had, I will protect you with my life.

Honestly, siblings stories wreck me completely. I was not expecting to cry as much as I did reading these books, but thank you, Monty, Felicity, and Adrian. All the conversations in this book, all of Adrian's internal dialogue, all of it was written and represented so well. I wish there was more of them, because I could truly never get tired of these three.

I only have one complaint: we did not get enough Louisa in this book. Give me a novella of her destroying stuck-up men in London, please. I need it.
