FINALLY the book is here! I’m a bit sad that the original synopsis/plot changed (cuz cross-Atlantic journey to Barbados sounds equally entertaining) BUT as the story is now, I’m at 4.5 stars, rounded down to 4 because honestly? I’m a bit disappointed :(
I don’t know how to explain without getting too spoiler-y, but I feel like the spyglass storyline didn’t resolve itself in a satisfying way after everything that happens in their quest to find answers. Like, I still don’t understand why Basira Khan wanted it and sent her ships in search of it. Was it actually causing a curse to the seas? Is everything back to normal now that it’s been returned? It’s unclear and feels incomplete.
But, I’m *totally* here for the sibling bonding!! It’s literal “found family” and I’m

“Someone told me once,” Monty continues, “there is life after you survive.” “What does that mean?” I ask. “It means the feeling that you’re not so much living your life as just trying to push through it won’t last forever. Someday you’ll be able to breathe.”
God I just still can’t believe the Goblin got his own book! I This was so enjoyable to read, and I will really miss the world of the Montague siblings. (Felicity was my favorite narrator of the thee. I found her compelling, pragmatic, and hilarious). Historical and adventurous fiction has always been a favorite genre of mine, and it’s such a treat to read stories (albeit fictional ones) about queer and disabled people finding happiness and the will to live without compromising who they are.
