I really liked the finale to this series! I got a little overwhelmed with the detail of Adrian's anxiety with my own but it was a very detailed description of what it's like.

I had read some reviews for this book and saw that many people didn't like this book very much, so I came in with low expectations. But I actually really loved it, especially the end. I found it really emotional and I'm glad to have seen the Montague siblings end on a happy, if imperfect and unfinished, note and together.

Okay, I did really love this book.
But, really, I only truly loved it to check in on the other Montague Siblings.

Adrian is a great character with a strong arc, the plot is well paced, with plenty of swashbuckling and mystery, the writing itself is amazing, and, despite the page count, it was a quick read.

That being said, it did feel like a lot of fan service.
I loved seeing all the characters from the prior stories--Johanna, Sim, and George and finding out what happened to all of them.
I think I'd give about anything featuring Felicity, Monty, and Percy at least 3 stars.

The ending made me shed a few happy tears.

I did enjoy the focus on mental health and chosen family, but it was at times drawn out when I felt it didn't need to be, and the main "conflict" didn't really matter as much as I thought it would in the end. I can see why, but it was a little disappointing.

Please read this series immediately. I love the Montagues so much.

I felt really disappointed with this book. The main character didn't have the wit that I enjoyed from montey and felicity, and it seemed to be more a book about someone's mental health struggles first. Which would be fine if that's the impression you've gotten going into the book, but the ghost ship part of the book felt unfinished and not really fleshed out. Like it was just the plate to serve the mental health struggles on. Which I struggle everyday with and it's not something I want to read about unless it's what I'm intending to read.

When Adrian receives his mother's effects after her death, he realizes something isn't quite right. To solve the mystery of the broken spyglass she acquired after a shipwreck, he sails to the Mediterranean, is nearly killed by pirates, and travels across the Continent following clues. Discovering family he never knew he had, and struggling with obsessive anxiety, he learns painful truths about his mother—and himself.

This fun adventure is, at its heart, about how family can either tear us apart or make us whole. The author's voice is delightful, the story imaginative and compelling. Best of all are the characters, who are so well developed that they feel real. It's a joy to read this final book in the series.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
