slow-paced

Spoilers Below!

I hate to say it- but the best part of this book was being done with it. The writing and dialogue was ultra cringy and terrible, and honestly the story was really boring. The way everyone acted was sooo unrealistic and to koom-bye-yah. I have never heard anyone talk like the people in this do in real life, and don't get me started on the cringe nicknames. No chemistry between the main couple- Maddox and Braxton, they were some of the most 1-dimensional characters I’ve read to date. They acted and had the emotional maturity of teenagers. It was so weird the way they acted around each other, and how fast everything was going with them with no connection between them….

The more books I read that are second chance, the more I realize how much I love the trope and Hannah did it justice! The angst, chemistry and spice that she brought to this book was top tier. Seriously, Hannah can perform magic with any trope!

Anytime I think of Braxton or Maddox I get so emotional. Their love story is full of innocence, love, friendship and pure angst. It was heartbreaking but also full of heart pounding goodness. Their friendship turned to love was delicious and inevitable. Maddox is definitely one of my favorite Hannah men and his filthy mouth will make you sweat.

I adored the communication between Maddox and Braxton and their honesty with each other. And to top off this perfection of a book there was no third act breakup which was the perfect choice for these two!

Once again I bow down to Hannah’s brilliance.

3.75 rounded up to four stars. I enjoyed this second chance romance. If you enjoy a secret tattoo troupe like I do, then you might enjoy this book. I enjoyed the characters and will be checking out the other books in this series.

DID NOT FINISH: 34%

None of my guy best friends throughout my life were EVER physically affectionate like Maddox is with Braxton. It’s disturbing. Also, having a plus size FMC with a nickname of Curly Fry seems like a really shitty choice on the author’s part. Also there’s no chemistry? And I got 34% in and just felt so bored. It’s a no from me.
