No no no no No!

I thought this was going to be the last book of the series! I can't wait for the next one!

As for the book itself- it deserves the 5 star rating I gave. I have never finished a book so quickly but I literally could not put it down. Instead of focusing on a very important research paper, I decided to hide away in the world of Atlantia for hours on end. It was worth it.

Repetitive, cheesy jokes, literally the same banter in every scene way too much politics, horrible world building (again)
Cannot continue with this series and probably won’t read this author again

The ending was the only thing that helped redeem this book. The entire first 75% dragged and I found myself almost putting off finishing.

DNF at 40%.
The conversations and internal dialogue are the same 4-5 topics on a constant loop with minuscule detail changed each time.

I don’t know why this series is so heavily recommended as something to read after ACOTAR. I stuck it out through about 2.5 books (53ish hours of audiobook listening) but I can’t go on any longer!

The first book was somewhat consistent in how the characters spoke but by this book, the MC’s constant use of “Whaaaatever” as a way for the author to shut down the banter is driving me nuts. This was only one of many words/phrases that felt out of place in the world the author attempted to build, especially since their frequency of use increased (by a lot) in this book.
Some of the side characters could be really intriguing if they were allowed to have a personality but one in particular seemed to transition into a narrator-ish voice answering questions for about 90% of his dialogue.

Also, in case you’re wondering, Poppy is still an idiot in this book.
