Don’t mind me, I’ll just be over here picking up the shattered pieces of my heart that are scattered all over the floor.

This story fits in perfectly with the rest of the Hunger Games stories. I loved the connections it shared with both The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and the originally trilogy. I especially enjoyed the glimpses we got of some of my most beloved characters and what lead them to the choices they made, and seeing where certain things and tokens originated.

The last few chapters hurt, but the epilogue, ugh my heart! I really didn’t think I could love this series more than I already did, but I’m so glad I was wrong!

Suzanne collins deserves the world for providing those of us who read the original series as kids/teens with the opportunity to dive back into this world as adults with the prequels. And Not only does she continue to build such a compelling world in these stories, but there is a purposeful empowering message behind them and I will continue to admire her brain because of that. This is my favorite of THG, as I am a huge fan of when stories across different books connect to  eachother and bridge the gaps of information we didn’t have previously, and Suzanne does this seamlessly. Not to mention the intense emotion and devastation felt in almost every page of this story. I could go on about the brilliance of this book endlessly, so just read it. Read them all, Suzanne Collin’s is a genius and a mastermind and it feels a privilege to be able to read her work as it’s being released in real time.
