I find the title a bit misleading, while the subtitle is the correct one. There are lots of learnings and insights into the space training, however I find only a small number of those to be applicable to life on Earth. After all, it is a very specific profession in extremely specific circumstances e.g. one cannot have the luxury of training, training and training again for a particular task on Earth (and due to lower risks perhaps that's also not wise to do). So it's a joyful and captivating read, but don't expect this to be a strong inspiration for you to revisit your daily routines and practices.

It was an easy read. I found the story behind his viral 'Space Oddity' video entertaining .... his entire social media campaign & success was driven by his marketing son while on Christmas break. Not NASA or CSA. Not surprising.

It also highlighted how lazy & not dedicated I am. *sigh* Not surprising, I do not have the focus & ambition to be an astronaut.

I admire this man tremendously, but this book felt a bit too all over the place. Still, some interesting stories found within.

As a child, I dreamed of becoming an astronaut, and throughout my adult life, I have been fascinated by documentaries, films and TV-series about space exploration, both fiction and non-fiction. This book by astronaut Chris Hadfield contains a ton of stories and anekdotes about his own experiences in space. The title of the book suggests an emphasis on lessons learned for life on earth, but even though there are a few reflections sprinkled in, it mostly is a riveting peek behind the curtain of the day to day life in space and on earth of an astronaut. Loved it.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this. An easy and joyful read, it straddles the line between memoir and a self improvement book. Hadfield gives a rare honest glimpse into the life of an astronaut while sharing clever philosophies that can be applied to many different situations, even for those of us that don’t work at NASA.
