I've gotten ticked off the last two releases from Robert Crais because they were much later than the expected date. Both times he made the novels worth the wait! Great book in the series with both Elvis and Joe present with a twisted case. A young group of three thrill seekers get in over their heads and it is up to the boys to save them. Much more involved than that, but I don't want to leave any spoilers.
The Wanted is a good exemplar of Crais' work and the Cole/Pike series. In this one, though, we see things from the perspectives of at least three different people...Cole and Pike, the hitmen, and the pursued. I'm told that, for a novelist, it's a little difficult to pull off such a complicated thing, but Crais does it well. It is entertaining to get a glimpse of the goings on from each party's relatively limited view of the whole, to stand above the fray, as it were, and begin to weave the whole cloth from the varied strands. And, of course, Elvis and Pike prevail in a satisfying ending.
Was everything I expected it to be. Totally enjoyable from start to finish and Pike, as always, was AWESOME in his badass-ness. The hug between him and Elvis towards the end, so touching and totally smile-worthy. Love this series. Love Elvis. Love Joe. Can't wait for the next one.

I forgot how much I love this series and Robert Crais' writing. My only negative is that i must now wait for the next installment.

The Wanted was a bit slower compared to some other relatively new entries in the series. It picked up the pace really well, however, once Pike showed up and then moved as it should with Cole & Pike; fast, fun, wholesome but thrilling.
Between The Wanted and A Dangerous Man, I believe I like A Dangerous Man better, but that definitely doesn't mean I was disappointed with The Wanted. It's good. Crais-level good.
