This story had a good plot line for me to enjoy, but I found the pace just a little too slow for my tastes. But, overall, I enjoyed the storyline. Cole is just a man that you can't help but love. And Erin's determination to make him see the error in his ways just makes you love her as well.
Perfect Fling is an opposites attract, one night stand, surprise pregnancy romance. Erin is an assistant district attorney who has always been the "good" girl, doing what's expected and everything "right". Cole has always been the town "bad" boy, getting into trouble in his teen years. He moved away with him mom when he was in his early teens and has just come back to town for a period of time. After Erin's brother's wedding, she and Cole end up having a one night stand, but both agree it's just for one night. Cole has no plans to stay around long term, and after his break intends to go back to his under cover work. However, everything gets turned around when a few months later Erin is not only pregnant, but finds her life in danger and Cole is the perfect person to try and protect her and keep her safe.
I'm a sucker for anything angsty, so in many ways the Perfect Fling was a perfect fit for me. Erin knows Cole has no plans to stick around, despite the baby, yet finds herself attracted and unable to create distance between them. Cole has a lot of baggage. He had a very antagonistic relationship with his father, who has always let Cole know what a disappointment he is. Because of his upbringing he feels he isn't worthy of being a partner to Erin and believes the work he does as an under cover officer is something he needs in his life. I really enjoyed the both the mystery and angst in this one, although I had figured out who the big bad was in this one from their very first mention, before the mystery even got under way. That being said, it was still a fun read and I very much enjoyed the angst and romance.

I absolutely loved this book. Erin and Cole made such a great couple. The only complaint I have is I would like a little more information about the night they spent together that resulted in Erin's pregnancy. We know where they were before they hooked up, but not why that night or what actually led up to that night. I definitely recommend this book and it's a wonderful addition to the serendipity series.
Nothing better than a bruting unfriendly male and the sweet girl next door falling into a mess. After a one night stand, Erin finds herself pregnant with Cole's baby. While the entire town as well as hid father feel he is worthless and a hoodlum, what he has been hiding from everyone else is exactly what Erin sees in him. Against all odds the two balance each other out and when her safety is in jeopardy, Cole rises to help. But wil the close quarters end any chance of a romance? Or will his inner turmoil keep him from reaching out to hold onto not only her and the baby but a future he never saw coming. Cole is one of the best characters I have read in quite sometime. So many layers, so much heartbreak and in the end a man so swoon-worthy. We all need a Cole in our life.
Perfect Fling by Carly Phillips

Really enjoyed reading Erin's story. Cole, like Mike in the 1st book, had to come to terms with his past in order to make a future.
A fun return to small town Serendipity from Carly Phillips. Erin has been the good girl all her life but that changes after one night of passion with Cole. Cole has stayed away from Serendipity for years but fresh off a particularly tough undercover case he comes back to his home town for a little down time. He can’t deny that he and Erin have a strong pull and passion but he knows he’s not the settling down type no matter how tempting she makes it. When Erin is attacked and her life if on the line there’s no better bodyguard than Cole. As these two negotiate the tight quarters of being together all day every day they have to decide what kind of future will make them happy or if Cole will head out for his next assignment. Really sweet, sexy, fun story. I enjoy the Serendipity’s Finest series and I really look forward to the last book in the series!
Perfect Fling by Carly Phillips is the second book in Serendipity's Finest series.
Erin Marsden is the only daughter of the former police chief of Serendipity. She's the good girl and has followed in the family legacy, so to speak of upholding the law, as an Assistant DA. For once, she did something just for herself, a weakness for Cole Sanders that led to far more than a smoking hot sexual encounter.
He's only back in town to decompress after his last under cover assignment. And he definitely didn't bargain on Erin. Now faced with the reality of the unexpected and an unknown danger targeting Erin, all of Coles' protective instincts go into overdrive. Can he protect her from what's to come and keep himself from growing attached? Or is it time to finally put to rest the old demons and grab hold of the best possible future he never expected?
