I was so excited for this ARC after finishing Ace of Betrayal (book 1) & it did not disappoint! I thoroughly enjoyed the rollercoaster that is Lux & Slate, so many twists & turns, some expected, some not! I loved every second of it. Lux is so strong in someways whilst not in others, it’s amazing to see her discover her self worth & find her strength along the way. I’m so glad we got to see snippets of the characters from book 1, I love them & they really add to the fun of the story.
If you love these, you’ll love the book:

Fantastic sequel to Ace of Betrayal, I devoured this in a day! The tension was top notch, and Slate is yummy. I loved seeing Lux in depth, she's so much more than a socialite and I was rooting for her the whole time. Can't wait to see how the next revenge plot unfolds!
Thank you, Jessica Jude, for the ARC of this book!

This is a good solid read! I love the gossip girl vibes of high society in this series. Slade & Lux would be like Serena and Dan if Dan was a biker. Lux is definitely a high class chick & has some moments where she looks down on people (& doesn’t really evolve), so in that regard I didn’t like her as much as I did Walker (in Ace of Betrayal). But I thought Slade was such a great way to balance her out. He also was down badddd & I really enjoyed watching their story unfold! I will say, I really really wish he would have punched him more than once… ya know? Thank you Jess for the early read!!

So greatful I got to be and ARC For this book. I absolutely loved it! It was so tonally differnt than the first one while still being true to the characters.
While the 'we're from different worlds and will never work' started to get a bit tiresome it added so much tension between Lux and Slate. Which only added to their bickering and witty banter.
My only (minor) complaint is that there was really no explanation of why she was in the grocery store and very little of the friend group

For the fans of gossip girl but also 2016-2019 YA romances with an element of organized crimes such as Boys of Bradshaw or …. High.
Gosh I read my fair share of these in my last years of high school and it’s still my guilty pleasure once every few months. Are they very plausible and logical? Not really. But that never stopped me.
I loved Lux’s “The OC” style family drama and being in her brain is exactly what I expected being in Blair’s brain. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but her pettiness and poker nights scheming are definitely mine. Slate is a protector, the kind of touch her and you die with a soft spot for his little sister. Very rough around the edges. Plus, in all fairness, the novel does bring around some interesting points such as abusive relations, absentee parents, eating disorders and chronic invisible illness.
What I didn’t really enjoy, and this is subjective of course, is the plot. Don’t want to get into spoilers because everyone should have a chance to read and decide for themselves. In short what brings the couple together is that a loved one of Lux is sick and instead of threading the root they make a deal to bring the whole origin of the sickness down, with very serious risks. I also didn’t love the insta-lust/love aspect. Plus, would have love more of the side characters. A great idea just a little confused for my liking, but I think I’ll pick up the next anyways!
I was kindly sent an ARC by the author without any requests in exchange.

After reading the first book, I thought how can this series get better? And this book did not disappoint. Talk about plot twists, betrayals but still a hea? This book has one- but they have suffer to get to it, and so do we.
It was a wild ride indeed, and I absolutely loved Slate’s younger sister. Some of the things Lux did really made me pause, because in the first book the pranks weren’t so extreme but as the title suggests, she is the queen of revenge. The friend group wasn’t as involved in this book, but we had a few moments but I am DYING for book 3 because of that ending.
