First off, I'd like to thank Jessica Jude for providing an e-arc of the book. However, all opinions are my own.

I was struggling to review/rate this book after reading Ace of Betrayal. I know it's a different book with different characters and I was NOT expecting what I read. I'm not saying what I read was bad. I just wasn't expecting it to go the way that it did (also Heath overheard the conversationat the end of book 1 why weren't he and Walker more involved?). Jessica Jude did a really good job writing this because the characters (this is a very character driven story) had my attention right away (she especially had my attention during the spicy scenes).

I liked Lux in the first book (still like her in this one) and I'm glad that we got to see a different side of her, especially given the situations with Carter, Alex, and her mom. This book showed her as more of the hurt socialite compared to what we saw in the first book (excluding the hints in the 1st book alluding to her situation with Carter). Taking into consideration all the people who've hurt her, I can understand how she came to look down on people, her rage over her brother, and her response to Slate's revelation. While I understand what has shaped her character, I do wish that we got to see more of her being the tech-savvy/hacker we saw her being in the first book.

Now, on to Slate. I understand why he ended up making the choices that he made to support his sister because people IRL make the same choices. Now, I do think he has a chip on his shoulder about the economic differences between him and Lux. The way he constantly talks/thinks/references those who have more than him feels like he believes they're consistently looking down on him or out to get him and his sister. I don't like that he lied to Lux, and I don't like that the only reason he stopped dealing was because he got caught by the person he cares about. A lot of his reasoning irritated me at the end of the day because it felt like he was just saying the world was out to get him and that's why he chose to do the things that he did.

What I took away from the most book was that people are going to make their own choices no matter what you do. The only thing you can do: be there to support them and help when you can. Did I enjoy the book? Yes, I did. Will I continue this series? Absolutely, yes, I will because now I'm invested in these characters.

Anyone who loves “Gossip Girl” will love this book! The romance in this is written so well. On a spice scale, I would rate it a 3.5/5. The heartbreak the FMC goes through is something I think many people can resonate with and the things she goes through just as a female is what I think unfortunately most woman can relate to.

The author did such a good job of writing this with real world problems and emotions.

Jessica Jude did not disappoint! I really enjoyed this book I loved the characters. The banter between Lux & Slate is everythingggg! I couldn’t put it down. I did not want it to end. I need to go back and read the first book and I cannot wait to see what’s next! 🫶🏼

I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and am providing my honest review. And lemme tell you… Oh how I loved Lux and Slate

I wanted to really like this book and the blurb sounds amazing, now it does state that this can be a standalone story and you didn't need to read the first one, so that's what I did. I don't feel I missed anything terribly important, maybe a bit of context about how the poker group all met & came together, but it didn't make much difference to this story.
My personal issue with this is two fold, I honestly don't get how the FMC can forgive the MMC for what he did to a family member (trying to keep this spoiler free), there's no way I could have gone back to him after that. The next is a bugbear of mine, and it's unhygienic back to front door action. We're talking digits and appendages going back there and then straight to the front, with no cleaning, no wipes or anything, that's a one way street to a raging UTI, if it had not been pretty much the end of the book, I would have dnf'd it. I know it's fiction and just a story, but the more it's written about, the more people won't take it seriously and practice safe an*l to v*ginal play.
The last third of the book really tainted my overall impression of the book, which I was kind of enjoying up until those points, neither of them are things I can overlook and has reflected in my rating of this.

I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC for Queen of Vengeance, and oh my god it is worth the wait. Official release date is July 1st.

We met Lux in Ace of Betrayal but we don’t know who Slate is. Lux Columbia-Clarke is a socialite who chairs galas, drives a vintage car, and pursues revenge on those who wrong her. Enter Slate who wrongs her. Right at their very first conversation, you can feel the chemistry and the banter did not disappoint. Lux and Slate have a very interesting love story that involves two siblings and Lux’s boyfriend Carter (who I hate).

Lux and Slate’s story is filled with trauma, angst, revenge, and above all, love. Does end with a hard-fought HEA. Heed the triggers in case there is something you’d rather not read about.

I was a member of the ARC team (although I’m just getting around to reading it because life got hectic). This is the second book in the series although it’s not 100% necessary to read the first. It would just give some more backstory.

I thought that this book was a great read! I read it in like three sittings and stayed up way into the night just to keep reading it.

I did think that the identity of the wolf was sort of predictable but not gonna lie I still at that up. The reveal was so intense I was kicking my feet and giggling
