I love Elena Ferrante so much. She reaches into the darkest sometimes most humiliating depths of the human mind and exposes it all to you in the most incredible prose and I’ll eat it up every single time

I had a bit of a hard time reading this book. Halfway through I wanted to give up because it was getting so repetitive and self-destructive. But once I got through that hump, I realized just how necessary it was.

Ferrante does a scary good job of detailing Olga’s manic breakdown in the midst of her two young children. Looking back, I’m equally impressed but repulsed. Such an odd mixture of feelings but no other way to really describe it. I can see why this wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea.
