I really enjoyed this book. It was easy to read and kept my attention, even with the many different story lines. You don't have to be a history buff to get into the story or to understand what's going on, as the author explains everything really well. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the Century Trilogy series.
Not my favorite Ken Follett book, had trouble finishing it.
Loved it. Can't wait for the rest of the trilogy!
I MIGHT have given this book five stars if Follett didn’t write such CRINGE WORTHY sex scenes. Has this bro never had sex with a real human woman?
Otherwise seriously a great story - I felt deeply invested in the characters and I’m hyped to listen to the second installment.

3.5 stars. Easy read, interesting enough characters in my favorite time period, but a bit plodding and contrived at times. Still, it was enjoyable and I'll likely continue the series.
I have never been a big reader of historical fiction, but I really enjoyed this book. It was hard to put down on several occasions. :) I hope the rest of the trilogy is as engrossing!

Another great one by Ken Follett! Why did I start reading this before the rest of the series is out? Now I will be stuck wondering what happened to all the characters, most of whom I totally loved. It was cool to read about WWI, since I think it often gets over shadowed by WWII. Very interesting, made me want to read more about the war.
Amazing book. Great story, continually developing characters, historic accuracy in very engaging format. There is no prejudice and all parties of Great war are pictures with deep understanding to their motives which let to such catastrophy. Gave me a lot of insight on how pillars of our current society came to life. We cannot thank enough to all those 10 millions who sacrificed their life to help those old structures fall and start change of our society towards equality and freedom. And it has been only 100 years (compare to thousands of years before) and we still have so much work to do. A must read for everybody.
