Ugh this was so good until the last page.. I couldn’t get ONE chapter of follow up?!
Probably my favorite of the Ravenel books so far. Seeing Sebastian meddle ("parent") in his children's lives is fun and I am a fan of West. I think Phoebe let go of her resentment towards him a bit quickly given how she was harping on it in the beginning, but I think things wound out pretty decently over all. This was largely disconnected from the rest of the Ravenel family drama--probably because almost all of them are married off by now--which benefited it greatly. It does go back to the "I could never be good enough for you!!!!" trope, which is a little eye-roll-worthy, but Kleypas has a way of writing such charming interactions that I'm willing to let it slide.
So, it's SeverinxCassandra for the last one, yeah?

I've enjoyed this series, and while I did like this book, I was a little disappointed at how quickly the L-word came up. FYI, if you have known each other for approximately two days and have had maybe three conversations, YOU ARE NOT IN LOVE. This is a real pet peeve of mine that comes up frequently in romance novels. Love ≠ infatuation or lust.
That aside, this was a decent story, albeit with several things that felt too modern to make sense. I always enjoy reading Lisa Kleypas's books, and I'll keep looking for whatever she releases next.

Loved this story about Sebastian and Evie's daughter Phoebe. Their appearance here made me want to go back and re-read The Wallflowers and Ravenels all over again.
We don't often have historicals featuring young widows with children who had a loving marriage so this was a lovely read. Phoebe is a wonderful, doting mother and some of the swooniest moments for me were when West played with Justin and Stephen.
* enemies to lovers
* hero feels unworthy

Upon re-read, was reminded of how hot the scene was where Phoebe shaved West.

West Ravenel’s story did. not. disappoint. Oh my word! Did West morph into one of the most swoon-worthy heroes in all of Lisa Kleypas’ universes!
Ugh! And I absolutely adore Phoebe. Headstrong, and yet not unwilling to see reason, she takes the time to get to know her presumed enemy.
The way these two come together! I. Ate. It. Up. Even with children in the picture. Listen, I have nothing against kids. I have three of my own whom I love very much. But in my romance novels? Not so much. I use these books as an escape. But these children were endearing. We see the influence that Phoebe’s parents had on her — I loved seeing Sebastian and Evie as the doting grandparents — and then the way that West is with them. (Cue: <heart melting>)
What a fantastic bonus to be at Lord St Vincent’s and Pandora’s wedding! Plus the always perfect narration by Mary Jane Wells.
All the yeses and all the stars for this one!

Lots of fun. So well written and humorous. And it was lovely seeing all the familiar faces again.
