"Chronic pain is something you learn to deal with. Constantly telling people about it gets tiresome. Who wants to hear that?"

This was the perfect pallet cleanser for me. It is a perfect romantic comedy full of hope, love, heartbreak, and laughs. Plus, the disability representation was beyond perfect.

It was nice feeling so connected to a character and being able to fully put myself in their position, understanding their struggles completely.

Frankie and Jay had a swoon worthy relationship. She was head over heals for him, and he made sure she was comfortable in every situation.
Even if it meant destroying a wall at his house to make the washroom more wheelchair accessible for her. 🥹❤️

It was nice to see a book that promotes accessible shmex and the safety that comes along with it. Frankie never felt embarrassed and embraced her sexual desires to the fullest.

I will definitely be continuing the All Access Series, I love the representation and what it stands for!

Story was okay, accuracy about accessibility was great and a story with safer information about the kink community is good to see. I just wasn’t overly impressed with the development of the characters. I think I would have gotten more interested if they had filled out more of their backstory.

This is first book for me that I have read by Evie Mitchell I was drawn to this book because of the main character having a disability you don’t find many book written about issues such as physical disability Learning disability mental disability I myself have a learning disability and I very rarely ever read a character that is dyslexic I also have chronic pain because of my feet and it refreshing to read about characters in your position. you find a lot of characters that seem to have ailments have PTSD or maybe mental health problems but not of the other ones and usually has been in military service and got it from that. Absolutely love these characters and found this book so funny that I definitely will be carrying on the series I’ve got to find out what happens to her friends. I loved that the writer made things so normal and not awkward and I love the honest conversations that they had without them sounding condescending.

3.5 rounded up generously!

I REALLY REALLY expected to love this open door, STEAMY romance between Frankie, a sexologist podcaster who has a wheelchair and Jay, a shibari (rope play) expert who doesn't think he's good enough for anything but a good time.

What I did love: the dual perspectives; the sexy chemistry, a main character with a disability and the open, frank discussion about what sex involves for a person in a wheelchair/with limited mobility.

What I didn't love: that this was pretty much an instalove scenario; Jay gives up so easily at the first obstacle, and then the resolution was fast (though epicly grand); and the fact that this book was supposed to be all about shibari (rope play) but there was only a few short scenes, I was hoping for more.

This was only 200 pages so I feel like it could have been so much better with a little more space for a more realistic romantic relationship progression. Also heads up for anyone who doesn't enjoy a lot of profanity because the F-word gets used A LOT in this book (didn't bother me but I could see it being off-putting for some).

Overall I'm still excited to read more from Evie Mitchell's All Access series featuring the rest of Frankie's friends who each have different accessibility issues. TLDR: I WANTED MORE!!!

3.5/4

Consider this my resounding & enthusiastic endorsement: yes, you should read this one.

Frankie is a stellar FMC: self-assured & capable. She has several quality friendships & a well-adjusted life. She can’t cook for shit & doesn’t do anal, but nobody’s perfect. The MMC, Jay, is a bit of an unprocessed mess, frankly, battling a self-fulfilling prophecy of commitment issues. However, he’s also a complete goofball with fantastic sexual energy and a penchant for rope.

The energy here is exactly what you want a rom-com to be: cute, fun, & flirty. However, it’s not at all flippant. Indeed, the characters are very carefully constructed & considered, the various particulars of the respective MCs were thoughtfully addressed & consistent. Each character felt fresh; you haven’t read folks exactly like them before.

The downfall of the romcom is, almost always, the third-act conflict. I find they’re often all at once sloppy, lazy, and wasteful. They’re not well plotted, seemingly random, and entirely too shallow in resolution. In Knot My Type, it is brilliantly executed. The circumstances around it are a little larger than life, but I totally believed both of the MC’s actions, as well as the resolution. Not to mention, comprehensive considerations of the resolution were solid & healthy. There were, of course, some cringe moments. However I’m forgiving those as essential to the genre, because I’ve come across zero romcoms that don’t have at least a few moments that make me roll my eyes.

We are introduced to Frankie’s closest friends, and, while I have a soft spot for Flo, I am eager for every single one of their love stories as well.
