I’m honestly not quite sure how I feel about this book. I wanted to love this, and I ADORE Frankie and Jay together, but the book quite honestly felt too short. The timeline in which events happen in this story seemed incredibly quick, which made things almost hard to believe. I absolutely loved that this story featured a physically disabled MC and I LOVED that Frankie was an advocate for herself. I also loved the focus on psychology and being self-aware, but as I mentioned before, I wanted MORE. I wished there was a little more backstory and development to just give this story the extra push that it needed. In general though, it was a nice quick & easy read

This book was really short. I thought it was cute and I liked it for what it was… and I always appreciate a low angst book. I wish it gave me a bit more… character / relationship development? But I want to read more from Evie Mitchell.
It’s this time again… after having used KU for half a year, I’m done with it. Again. Why, you’re asking? Well, it’s an easy answer. A lot of the self-published content on KU follows the ingredient list for a bad novel, and “Knot your Type” is not an exception to the rule. I really did have high hopes for this novel as the premise is just amazing. Having a disabled main character who rocks and has real personality—what more can I ask for at this point? You’d expect the plot to be the bare minimum, but these KU books are really first drafts that need an editor.
If you don’t believe me then I can highlight some issues:
1. Introducing all characters to your follow-up novels in the first few chapters is too much. It was hard to understand their intentions and, frankly, they were just flat.
2. Why is the male lead so sexualised? His “chapters” are riddled with cliches and stereotypes. He also didn’t seem to have more personality than beyond the repeated “I love my dinosaurs sculptures” remarks.
3. The sex scenes were pure smut. I just don’t think it was the best choice for the novel as it could have been so much better if the sex scenes had been tasteful. I had to skip them because it was always the same… bs.
4. What was this ending? Tell me more about things that only happen in novels. Deus ex machina! Art imitates life for a reason. And good novels are aware of that.
Add the needlessly long descriptions and random information nobody needs, and you’ve got yourself a KU published title. I wish some authors would read “How not to write a novel” by Newman & Mittelmark. It’s not like these mistakes aren’t fixable.

I love when you pick up a book for one reason (accessibility awareness) and end up loving it for a totally different reason.
This inclusive sex positive novella of sorts was adorable.
I think realizing that there are needs within the disability community for kink friendly workshops is so important. Assuming everyone reading this book is an adult, sex is one of those vital parts of life that varies from person to person and nothing in the realm of sexual desires/fantasies should be exclusive to those without disabilities.
This book was perfect for representation and I enjoyed reading and learning how shabari is altered to fit the needs of those who need adjustments.
The romance was hard and fast, as to be expected in a novella, but the smut to plot ratio was surprisingly balanced.
The nickname Rainbow really just melted my whole heart.

This book wasn’t bad, per say. But it definitely wasn’t the best thing I’ve read this year. I loved the overall premise and really love the representation. BUT. The relationship between the characters didn’t feel fleshed out. And the male love interest honestly didn’t grab my attention. He also creeped me out a bit a first, honestly. But I did enjoy the book, just doing think I would read it again.

Where’s the angst??
I’m not really the biggest fan of insta-love, and this was that x10. WHEW.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing, because regardless, I enjoyed it! My brain wasn’t working overtime to figure out how these two were going to make it out at the end, they just happened to make it smoothly!
But in this, a lot was brought up and then glossed over and of course, our conflict was resolved within a snap of some fingers. I honestly wondered why there even was one in the first place.
Alas, I really did enjoy this more than I thought I would and also, there’s a ton of sex in this?? HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS?? Like, 80% sex and 20% story. Some of it was a *little* cringe, but most of it had me blushing like a slut BLESS.
