This started off okay but fell kind of flat around 65%. It lacked a lot of depth and substance. Things happened without anything to back it up. Can’t help but feel like Cress should’ve been with daddy Zeus. The term of endearment ‘babe’ didn’t help me like King from the start. Some of the dialogue was a bit cringy at times. I kept waiting for the school to find out and it was kind of refreshing that the plot wasn’t hinged on a big blow out. William should’ve been a bigger villain with more depth. I kept waiting for a PI to be taking photos of them as the big windows in the cabin were mentioned several times. Cress even things he would hire a PI to take pics of them. Both he and Lysander seemed to just fade into the background and be forgotten for large chunks of the story. Nice that this was Canadian based though.

the student-teacher thing with a highschool is very very creepy

I know a lot of people loved this book and I’m truly glad that it brought many people joy but I struggled A LOT while reading this one. Lessons in Corruption is an age gap, student/teacher romance. As everyone knows, this is a forbidden and taboo topic and normally, I absolutely LOVE books like these. But this one was so over the top in the way the characters acted that I felt slimy reading it. Our heroine, Cressida is the older one in this complicated twosome and she’s the teacher. She should be the one that comes off as mature and strong in her morals, but she doesn’t at all. To me, she acted like the younger one. King on the other hand came off as extremely intelligent (nothing like the strong motorcycle man we are told he is) and a man who knows what he wants… at 18 years old. **shakes my head** I’ve never met an 18-year-old like him, and it didn’t fit right with the type of character being written about. So, yea the characters just didn’t line up with how they were supposed to be written which really took away from the whole story.

Another thing that bothered me was that we were CONSTANTLY told via the characters just how forbidden and wrong it was (like seriously, over and over again) and it got old really quick. I felt there was too much talk about it and not enough action given the nature of the relationship between King and Cressida. I mean I get it; you shouldn’t be in a relationship with your student as THAT’S A GIVEN. But she just kept going on and on about it that I had to slam the pages shut because it was way too much.

Based on my thoughts about this one I can’t say for sure whether I’ll be reading the next one even though I own it. But I have heard that book 2 is really good so I’m hoping to give the author another try before saying she’s just not the author for me. Wish me luck

This book was a whole lotta nothing. I have never been more bored reading a reverse age gap in my life and that sucks cause I love this trope. I knew we were off to a bad start with the fmc seeing the mmc and not caring if he was underage, she wanted him and that gave me the ick cause pedo vibes

Wow giana has opened my eyes to reverse age gap romance I will tell you that!

I never thought I would like it but oh my god I devoured the book in 24 hours! King and Cress are everything I love love love how much king adored her and those little poems had my heart aching! The spice in this book was next level and I am HERE FOR IT!

A brilliant introduction to daddy Zeus aswell excited to reread welcome to the darkside and the rest of the fallen men/ladies!!

I definitely have a new thing for MC club romances thanks to giana! OBSESSED

Lessons in Corruption (#1) explores the story of Cressida Irons, IB English and History teacher at a highschool, and King Kyle Garro, a super-intelligent blond god who also happens to be the son of Zeus Garro, the president of The Fallen Men. The whole book was written from Cressida's point of view and it was good but I think I would've enjoyed this a lot more if it was from a third person pov, since Cressida's view did not give a glimpse over everything that happened throughout the book. For instance, I would've enjoyed knowing what happens at their motorcycle club rather than her three page descriptions about how beautiful King was.

Cressida wasn't very adventurous throughout and played it safe until the very end. She stands back, trying her best to not get involved with anything that the club does. Basically, she's always getting angry at King, then apologizing the next second and then they proceed to have hot, kinky sex. Inspite of all this I have no idea why I'm giving it 4 stars; maybe it was because I was still entirely intrigued to see how it would all finally play out.

Things I find worth mentioning :-

• I have no clue how King is a Alpha man trapped in a 18 year old body, because honestly I've never come across any 18 year old guy like him in my entire existence. The way is character is written, you'd mistake him to be in his mid to late twenties if the age wasn't specified. Cressida on the other hand makes me mistake her for a teenager.

• I didn't enjoy the entire town turning against MC part of the book. In fact, I'd have appreciated if MC were left to themselves and all the mayor parts were left out since it didn't add much to the plot.

• Lysander and Night Stalkers MC needed more time to develop. They came in abruptly and went out just as abruptly. There should have been a better closure for Cressida's parents and William as well.

• It was a happy for now ending, but still unsatisfactory. I expected to read an epilogue five or six years into the future, but got none of that.

SpoilerI just wanted to add that I mentally winced when she was nailed to a chair, I wanted to skim through the pages so bad, but I realised that I'd be missing out on the ending so I beared through it.

Yes. I still have no idea why I'm giving it 4 stars after this review.

i liked king a lot. he was very intriguing. i like how he was persistent towards cress and just wants to be with her regardless of her being hesitant. he was sweet and funny while also being tough and protecting cress when he could. their love was adorable and heartwarming. he was so sweet and cress was such a lil baddie once she got over her reservations and i loved reading her standing up for king.

So there were definitely some suprises I didn't anticipate. Call me a prude but i just couldn't get with the teacher/underage student trope. 8 years isn't a huge deal but he needed to not be in highschool and her student.
