Made me love mountains even more than I already do!
Really exciting climbing and running stories that are poorly written, even grading on the curve of athlete-written books. Jornet's expeditions on Everest and domination of the ultra/mountain running world is ripe for a great read but this really challenged me to finish, despite being personally very interested in the subject matter.
Thanks to Netgalley (and Meag!) for the advanced copy.

I listened to this book. It took too much energy to try and follow; there wasn’t much of a sequence or order it seemed and I didn’t even pick up on the fact he was SKI mountaineering until I was halfway in. I enjoyed it more towards the end but it was too little too late.

Jornet puts surprisingly little care into his world-defining ultramarathon career and much more into describing an intense need to escape the trappings of civilization. He's an interesting man if inscrutable at times
A book vaguely about Everest so I had to read it. I’ve always followed Jornet’s career so it was interesting to hear from his perspective his relationship to sport.

An amazing athlete, but the book just felt rather disjointed and hard to read unfortunately
Kilian Jornet is probably one of, if not the greatest athletes of all time, with a legendary track record of winning some of the hardest races in the world, and almost effortlessly climbing the tallest mountains in the world unaided and in record times. All of this should have supplied endless epic material for a killer book, but sadly Kilian does not have the same skills in story telling or writing, and it shows in this book. A not insignificant part is also spent railing against the modern world and his disdain for fame and recognition. So while there are many interesting anecdotes, it was not what I had hoped it would've been.
