“I think that Peeta was onto something about us destroying one another and letting some decent species take over. Because something is significantly wrong with a creature that sacrifices its children’s lives to settle its differences. You can spin it anyway you like. Snow thought the Hunger Games were an efficient means of control. Coin thought the parachutes would expedite the war. But in the end, who does it benefit? No one. The truth is, it benefits no one to live in a world where these things happen.”

real or not real? i rest my case. still the best dystopian novel i’ve ever read in my life

wow. what a bittersweet ending to this trilogy. damn, going into this, i had no idea how heavy and gruesome it would be. everyone just said that they loved it a lot, but this is the true definition of a dystopian novel. yea, the characters
may have been ultimately successful in overthrowing a corrupt government, but there were many many sacrifices made. there are always sacrifices involved, and sometimes they're not fair (still sobbing at finnick and prim's death in this book)

i also liked
that katniss killed president coin. i liked that the rebellion leader was basically another dictator- it shows that both sides had its flaws. anyway, coin always rubbed me the wrong way

this series will definitely be staying with me, and i will certainly be thinking about the real world issues that it tackles. although i thought that this book wrapped up a little too fast, i loved the ending epilogue. it was realistic, haunting, and utterly bittersweet.

a little tribute to the people who didn't make it:
rue, prim, finnick, cinna, mags, wiress
but especially to my favourite guys
cinna 🧵💔 finnick 🌊💔 prim🏥💔 rue 🐦💔
i love you guys, i miss you guys ಥ‿ಥ 🩵

Reread. Really good conclusion to the series. I feel it tied up all the threads that have been laid over the course of the books, while still acknowledging that life goes on, and though this conclusion might not be perfect, it was still worth fighting for. Definitely some painful moments over the course of the book- I cried a lot, but I think those moments were done really well and felt worth something.

It's been so long since I read these books the first time that it was like reading them for the first time again. My chest hurts for Katniss and all the things she had to go through.

kinda had a hard time reading this one. i feel like the pacing is slower than the last two books, but it's a good ending to a good series.

The end to an incredible series. I prefer the books when they are actually in the games but this still remains interesting and engaging. It divulges into some interesting topics/dilemmas of power, relationships, etc which I really liked. I liked to see a lot of the character development, especially Effie! Definitely one of my favourite series of all time, love it!!
