3.6 AVERAGE

Be prepared for twist after twist and to not really know where your going, but if you like Delaney hang on for the ride! I thought it was worth every second. I think it could have done with a few less twists, but the ending worked for me. This is an auto buy author for me!

Enjoyed the first half but didn't enjoy the second half.

3.5/5*

This was a great thriller! Claire is a British actor living in NYC. To make ends meet she works for a law firm luring unsuspecting husbands into making her a sexual proposition, once she gets them on tape she walks away and gets the evidence into the attorneys or wives' hands.

All is well until one day one of the wives shows up dead and Claire is enlisted by the authorities to get a confession out of the suspected husband. This novel was a very quick read, fast paced, and intriguing.

The story takes place in NYC and is narrated from Claire's point of view. I found the characters complex, dark, and interesting. In some parts, the novel is written like a play which was very unique and original, fitting perfectly with Claire's role as an actor.

Overall, I enjoyed the novel and recommend it to readers of thrillers, mysteries, and contemporary fiction.

I received and ARC from the publisher via Netgalley

Full of twists and turns just when you think you know the outcome it changes

Gosh this book completely lives up to its title...all the way through I didn't know who to believe, didn't know what was true and what was a game of cat and mouse, smoke and mirrors...fantastic!!

Claire is an intriguing and frustrating character all at the same time, a brilliantly unrealiable narrator that adds to the twists and turns of the book.

Some of the twists in the book are extreme and takes a leap of faith to find them believable however I was so invested in the narrative that I loved the 'over-the-top' elements of the story...at the end of the day, books don't need to be realistic to be enjoyable!!

I listened to this on Audible and the main narrator was fantastic and really brought Claire alive. It was a great production with background noise to set scenes which was a great touch.

2.5 / such an unlikable protagonist.

The concept was interesting but by time I got the end it seemed far too far fetched and convenient.

(2.5) Well this was a stupid disappointment. I went into it really interested and exciting because I’d enjoyed reading this authors previous book - my excitement was COMPLETELY MISPLACED. The concept of the book sounded interesting but somehow it just didn’t deliver at all.

The main character, whose name I don’t even remember, (pretty good sign I didn’t care about her at all) was annoying and even though I think she was meant to be unlikable she still somehow just was the stupidest woman alive.

There were too many twists and the whole book just gave off the energy that the author thought the whole plot/story was very smart and advanced. This meant that every time there was a twist, I either didn’t care at all because the characters all seemed irrelevant and dumb or it didn’t come across as a twist because the ridiculous amount of them defeated the whole purpose of it being a surprise.

What a stupid book. One of the only redeeming qualities was that it was quick to get through. Dumb.

2.5 out of 5. A little confusing, and felt self-important in its writing style. Interesting to read, though.
