A good volume of Spy x Family! We get to see Loid's past and how that lead him to becoming a spy. We get to see the Handler handle a case without Twilight, and we get to see Yor ruminate on how to be "normal". There's a lot to love in this volume.

A wonderful addition and brings more depth to Twilight. I look forward to each volume as we are slowly moving the story forward.

Finishing up my last book of 2024 by returning to Spy x Family. In this volume we see a more serious plot in diving into Loid Forgers background. The book opens to show Loid as a child playing soldiers with friends just as the war between east and west begins and how Loid lost both of his parents in the war and ultimately joins the army. We also get to see Loid join the spy agency he works for and how he was recruited and how Loid met Frankie for the first time. After that section of Loids origin was shown, we then return to regularly scheduled chaos of present day with Anya and Yor and their strange little family.

This one jumped around a lot more and I am hoping to get some good momentum with the different plot points being developed. I recently remembered a plot point from several books ago that just got dropped (or maybe....comes back suddenly in the future?!) and I'm hoping that doesn't become a thing...

But I'm a little worried about it because Bond seems to be treated as a plot device more than a character. We only see him interact much with the family when there's a plot reason to need his powers now, and the comedic side character shorts at the end are the only thing reminding us he's there, at least for the past few books. If Bond is being underutilized as a contributor, what other plot strings are being set up only to be dropped later on?

Ce début de tome qui brise le coeur… mais j’ai été hyper surprise d’en apprendre plus sur Twilight et son début en tant qu’espion !
L’enquête avance un peu plus grâce à Yor. Hâte de lire la suite.
