I liked this book better than the first one. I felt like the push and pull of Gen and Evan was fun and interesting! It also had more of a plot than the first book.
This book was very anticlimactic. I needed more angst - everything happened so quickly. Even tho she was “dating” Harrison, her & Evan were right back together almost immediately. Coop had made Evan seem like he was a bad guy in GGC but I honestly didn’t think he was all that horrible or needed to be “fixed”.. the fighting & stuff yes, but he never seemed like the bad guy people made him out to be. Coop also annoyed me in this book - totally ruined his image for me from the first.
I wish they had gone into more details of their past. Everything was very surface level & UGHHH, Shelley getting her act together & being invited back in after just a few months after being a horrible mother their entire lives, irked me!
With all that being said: These are for the most part, quick & cute summer reads. & I always love a HEA ♥️

Complete honesty here: I adored Evan and liked Gen as individuals, but as a couple they made no sense. While they had sexual chemistry I felt like they lacked romantic compatibility and lasting power. Truly feel like these two wouldn't last if this were real life, which completely takes away from the romance.
I didnt really like this one. I don't think I like second chance romance. Also the title gives me the ick
emotional
Much better than the first book in the series. Evan and Gen's story is a lot deeper and complicated. They both grow a lot in the book.

I can usually count on Elle Kennedy books to be quick and entertaining reads and so I was eager to get to her new release, however this book just did nothing for me. I felt no attachments to Gen or Evan nor their relationship and I just didn’t want to read as I was so uninvested.

This was so boring. Evan acted like a brat 99% of the book and Gen had the personality of a piece of a blank paper. This is a prime example of the author telling what a character’s like instead of showing it.
I was hoping the addiction and alcoholism would play a bigger part in the story, because that was at least interesting. Sorry but Gen being a recovering alcoholic (or so were TOLD) and drinking wine because “it’s just one glass” is so dumb I wanted to dnf the book right there. This glass of wine is never mentioned again.
Also Evan was painted as at least struggling with drinking in the first book, but the way alcoholism is portrayed in this book is laughable. You don’t want to be an alcoholic? Sure thing, with a snap of fingers you’re cured! Wow!
Over all this was one of the worst books I’ve ever read. And I like Elle Kennedy. I was just so disappointed in the way the character’s issues were portrayed and insta-solved. If you don’t know how to write about alcoholism, don’t do it.
