This was just okay. If I was capable of DNF'ing a book, I would have considered it for this in the first 6%. Since I can't, I stuck it out and it did get a little better.

Have you ever read a book and then wanted to erase it from your mind because what the actual fuck? Because I have never wanted to erase a book from my mind, but this one just annoyed the hell out of me.

It took me a whole month to finish this book. And also, the fact that it has one of my favourite tropes—second chance romance—but the way the author used that trope was just so bad, and I hate this even more for it.

Gen and Evan were nothing to me. They were toxic for each other, and I don’t care if they end up together or not.

Wow! I loved this. I love the writing style and the whole story. Elle hit it out of the park with this one. Gen and Evan have an up and down relationship.

Bad Girl Reputation by Elle Kennedy - Rating: 5/5⭐️

A little over a year ago, Genevieve West left Avalon Bay. But when her mother unexpectedly dies, Gen returns for the funeral and is swayed to stay for a few months to help her dad with the books on his business. And the second he finds someone to fill in the position she’s gone again. Trying her hardest to navigate helping out her family in their new dynamic while escaping the very guy she ran away from, Evan Hartley, or so everyone seems to think. An impossible task in this small coastal town especially when Evan views her as the one that got away. But there’s more to Gen and her history with Avalon Bay.

LIKES:
👍🏾 I knew that I loved Evan from Good Girl Complex, but damn that man got me in the first scene of his arrival in this book. How can I not fall for that lollipop act?
👍🏾 I’m also a sucker for second chance romances, given that would be my trope for my husband and I. And I think that’s why I felt the connection between Evan and Gen more strongly than other readers have.
👍🏾 We get some slow character development, it’s not overly done but it’s there. And personally, it was enough for me. How much can we really expect in the change department from the two reckless young adults of Avalon Bay within a couple months. It’s honestly realistic. I loved to see the dynamic of the push and pull of both of them navigating their triggers to find the sweet spot of reckless and responsible while holding onto their identities together.

DISLIKES:
👎🏾 I didn’t love Genevieve as much as Mackenzie from the first book. But that’s not saying much because I still really enjoyed watching her story unravel and reshape itself. She really grew on me as the story progressed. I just needed to put a dislike in here.

Overall, the Avalon Bay are really easy reads that are contemporary romance coded that I just love as a good lounge in the sun reads. So perfect timing right now. All I want to do is sit down, relax, turn off my brain, and enjoy some messy characters trying to navigate life and even messier relationships. And this one hit (maybe just under Good Girl Complex but still).
