I loved the conversations about sexuality and identity in this book. This book was kind of different from what I usually read and I wasn't really hooked at any point. It was a soft book with important themes but lacked the passion and intensity that I like in my books.

Great romance!
Torin is the energetic team Mascot with a years-long crush on superstar hockey player Hugo.
Hugo appears to be the typical playboy hockey player with a different puck bunny in his bed every day.
But appearances can be deceiving.

I love Hugo's unbridled acceptance of everyone, and when he realizes Torin is his secret texting crush, who he thought was a girl, turns out to be a boy, he's excited about it, not judgmental because he likes the person they are. He's not hung up in the body they're in. He really embodies the idea that love is for a person, not a gender.
Torin is really relatable with his anxiety.
This one is not as spicy as the others because it has a much more romantic vibe than a sexy one. I'm giving it 🌶1/5 chilis on the spicy scale. Hugo apparently had a gigantic, so big it scares women 🍆 and is a virgin because of his fear of pregnancy.  Never fear, Torin is a size queen and is excited to sit on that 🍆 we just don't see much of it. Lots of the fooling around is behind closed doors.

Torin and Hugo’s story is absolutely heartwarming and swoon-worthy. Torin, with his shyness and struggles to communicate, felt so relatable. His job as a mascot, where he could hide behind a mask, was a clever way to show how he copes with anxiety. Hugo, on the other hand, is misunderstood by those around him. People see him as a carefree player, but he’s actually thoughtful and just searching for meaningful connections. Their relationship develops naturally, starting as friends and slowly evolving into something much deeper and more beautiful.

The romance in this book is a perfect example of a slow burn done right. Every moment between Torin and Hugo felt meaningful and authentic, whether it was through their texts, heartfelt conversations, or simple acts of care. Hugo’s efforts to plan thoughtful dates and show Torin how much he values him were especially touching. On the flip side, Torin’s unwavering support and understanding of Hugo’s quirks brought balance to their relationship. Their connection was sweet, genuine, and full of moments that made me smile.

Hugo’s character really stood out. Despite being seen as a carefree jock, he’s just a lonely guy who wants to find his person. Watching him open up to Torin and realize his own feelings was incredibly endearing. Torin’s role in helping Hugo see his own worth made their story even more impactful. It was equally beautiful to see how Hugo’s confidence helped Torin feel safe and valued in return.

This book isn’t just about romance—it’s also about personal growth, self-discovery, and finding where you belong. Torin and Hugo’s journey is a touching reminder of how love can bring out the best in people. The mix of sweetness, a touch of angst, and heartfelt moments made this story unforgettable. If you enjoy slow-burn romances with lovable characters and a satisfying emotional arc, this book is a must-read.

This was such a great romance and just what I needed to read! I absolutely loved every minute of it! The slow burn kept me wanting so much more! Crea really knows how to pull me into a book and keep me hooked.

I really loved Torin and the secret crush on Hugo he has. The way they come together and learn about each other had me swooning and wanting so much more! Absolutely loved every minute of it. And their connection isn’t just sweet it has passion to it. I really enjoyed that.

Overall I absolutely loved this book. It was a slow burn, sweet hockey romance. This book is more romantic than spicy which I loved. I can’t wait to see what Crea writes next!
