"That was weird. Then again, this was the Whiteaker and we were in Eugene. It was full of weird things. If witchcraft could exist anywhere, it would be here."

"So far, I liked him the best out of everyone, since he was the most rational and least homicidal."

It's fun reading a novel set in your city.

I don't think Skinnersville is real—it must be Springfield. Eugene Skinner founded Eugene. Maybe she didn't wish to offend the Springfield school system.

This series doesn't feel "cozy." It has a level of unsettling, anxious realism you don't often come across in fantasy fiction (let alone cozy mysteries, based on the few I've read). Despite its Harry Potter references, it's quite unique and unpredictable.

Baba Yaga's hut is bigger on the inside. It's a TARDIS. Or... Baba Natasha.

In the 2nd book in the Womby series, Clarissa learns of her magic powers and has to make a choice between having her power drained and becoming a mortie (mortal) or becoming a witchkin and attending the Womby School in order to learn how to use her powers. I love this series... it keeps me laughing. Also, I completely get wishing you would get your Hogwarts acceptance letter...
