This has spoilers - big ones have been blacked out though
I’m here for Seth and Caleb. I still like max and Geraldine and Darcy and Orion. I can’t really be arsed with Tory anymore. Her anger at Darcy was so ridiculous - saying Tory chose Orion over her and left her alone. Leaving could have killed everyone until her curse was broken and Orion was alone in a prison being tortured. Yes Tory was grieving, but she was surrounded by friends and supporters - basically she was happy for Orion to be alone while he was being tortured, and couldn’t have 2 months without Darcy. She said she was trying to save Darcy, but it just felt like it was about her own wants … again.
Hopefullydarius being back will make her more tolerable
I have really enjoyed these books, but introducing another villain, right before the last book… This is getting a bit dull. Especially as all the villains are pretty one dimensional. Also I truly don’t feel they have the balls to actually kill any of the central couples (Xavier and co, Tory & Darius , Darcy & Orion, Seth &caleb, or max and Geraldine) they have proven that with bringing Darius back, Geraldine not dying after the shadow beast attack and even with Xavier’s wings having to be reattached
I really want to see the end of this series and am so invested in the character, but feel it should have been at least 2 books shorter, and I’m going to have to skim read the main couples being separated… again
If I wasn’t fatigued this would have been a good book, but as part of a 9 book series, it’s all a bit much now

That was a LOT of information. It definitely moved the plot forward, but this could have been two books, easily.

I think this was my least favorite of the books. Just as I feared when I finished the last one, this one was just overwhelmingly morose and I found most of the characters obnoxious, even the ones I’ve typically liked.
I’m curious to see how the series will end (if next book is the last one). As of right now, this felt like a filler book that genuinely wasn’t needed and most of the plot points/ character arcs could’ve been incorporated into the last book.
I appreciated that it maintained some of the laugh out loud humor that I’m used to with this series. But overall it just had simultaneously too much going on, but very little of it felt like it should have the level of significance assigned to it.
