i’m sorry i ever doubted you pacat you own enemies to lovers (and involving collars with said enemies to lovers)
though i do think this would’ve been better if it was full adult or full ya? it was in a bit of a weird in-between state

The amount of plot twists this book had was amazing

I was totally blown away by this book! I love the characters and the story, I like how intense this was as I was reading it I really couldn’t put it down! I don’t know how I put off reading this for so long but I’m glad I finally did! Will is honestly one of the best protagonists I have had the pleasure to read about. You get to see tragedy, growth and so much in his journey. Violet also grows so much too and is just so loyal to Will, they are my favourite fighter duo.
What really had me were the amazingly done plot twists, I can usually tell when one is coming but for some reason I really couldn’t see them coming in Dark Rise, I was surprised every time one was revealed and also thought like “oh yeah that makes so much sense”
This is a more serious story and I really like the intensity in it. I like to read books where I the decisions characters make actually have reactions and consequences and you really get to see them all play out in this book. There is a whole magic system that we haven’t seen a ton of in this one but that makes my anticipation for the sequel so much more! I recommend this to anyone looking for a book on the more serious side of fantasy.

this was genuinely so good?? okay twist at the end I didn’t see coming, pop off!!! Sometimes YA isn’t my vibe anymore BUT SOMETIMES IT STILL IS
Okay so honestly, I liked this book. It was the right mix of my favourite things - romance, fantasy, what the hell is going on - but at the same time I found it incredibly hard to read. The writing style wasn’t my favourite, and the way some of the characters were portrayed honestly annoyed me. But I’d definitely recommend it to people looking to read a YA fantasy novel, ever book is worth the chance.
Would I read it again? no. But that doesn’t mean that I’m not excited for the rest of the series, or too see what comes next!
