Especially loved the first part of the book where the focus was on transcribing the therapy sessions.

what a ride this book was. i’ve always supported women’s rights and wrongs…to a certain extent iykyk. but coming into this book i didn’t know what to expect besides a messy, morally questionable mc. greta made me laugh and wince every page. big swiss’s honesty was so cut throat and almost…endearing? there are many TW in this book along with how satirical it is. this was an all consuming wild ride, i haven’t read a book this fast in a while.

This was fine, I enjoyed the absurd comedy of it. I wish the transcripts were a bigger part of it.

Such a fun premise, instantly hooked. Very much a witty, hilariously absurd 5-star read until about 2/3s in where it nosedives.
SPOILERS
I feel the believability of the characters is a huuuge issue. First, there's Greta who, though we're to understand is quite flawed and adrift, just doesn't read as her age at all even with these personality allowances - instead, she comes across v much a carbon copy of the 20-something protag of Pretend I'm Dead. Because of this, the very regular (and often, to Beagin's credit, v funny) humour of her POV doesn't stick the landing quite as often as, say, PID. Quirky for quirky's sake, Greta doesn't feel real or anywhere close to 45, and I guess largely because her inner thoughts default to unserious too often.
Then Big Swiss herself - a bit of an enigma. Her character feels a bit more authentic, in the transcript sections at least, but then harder to figure out, strangely, the more we see of her. Like, she seems too self-confident and astute for therapy (at least the type being given by Om - who appears decent enough at his job, whilst a bit kooky and lacking in nuance on occasion) to begin with - why was she there? Beyond the big O, which is apparently resolved quite ordinarily, why go back? What is she getting out of it? What is her continued interest in G, besides lust, who doesn't once deviate from being a total mess? Etc.
For the ride, I'd still recommend BS, and it has genuine LOL moments with interesting & original exchanges between characters who are enjoyably batshit. Beagin really excels with sharp dialogue that takes unexpected risks whilst not padding the story out longer than necessary. Beyond that, a bit baffled by what to really make of this.

6 stars! Better than best! I love this book! It’s sexual and deviant but also holds suspense, mystery and a lot of relatable emotion. It’s weird in the best ways. Highly recommend the audiobook with its witty narration!
