An interesting autobiography by Alex Van Halen about his and Eddie’s upbringing, their interest in music, and Van Halen up until David Lee Roth left. It’s clear that while Alex is the older brother, he had the utmost respect for Ed. He calls him a prodigy and the best guitar player in the world several times. The two brothers were inseparable, and his grief can be felt throughout the book. It’s also an inside look at the early years of a great rock and roll band, including the business side, and 4 young adults trying to figure it out.

The book itself is interesting, especially their early life and how they grew up and were raised. But there is barely anything about the Sammy Hagar years, Eddie's cancer or after Sammy Hager. Maybe the plan is to write a second book for the rest of it, but this feels like it's half the story. I listened to the audio and Alex read it himself, which was cool - his giggles and guffaws made me laugh. I hope there is a part 2 because if not, this left out a lot of the story.

loved hearing all the stories of them on tour. Ozzie going missing for a couple days had me laughing.
