A Kingdom of Flame and Fury by Whitney Dean

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was literal perfection!

This is probably one of the spicier books I’ve read! And I am living for it! I think it might have been my first experience with a “fast burn” (is that what the trope is considered) and I may like that better than what I am used to!

I was captivated from page 1 and found myself ignoring my normal responsibilities so that I could read! Lots of take out this week

I had a lot of fun reading this one! From the start it grabbed me, and I was in for the ride. I really loved Raven’s magic and seeing her grow into her power. I liked Raven and Zeke even when their relationship got toxic.

As much as I enjoyed the story, it was flawed. This book is extremely spicy and in my opinion was way too much so. Not that that’s a bad thing, but it’s something I personally don’t want too much of in my books.

I found the constant repetitive conversations incredibly frustrating to read. I know that miscommunication between characters is supposed to happen in this, but it was giving me a headache. Raven also is incredibly stubborn, and I thought her actions at the end of the book made no sense.

I never understand the hiding of the “secret”. If Zeke could have been just honest, we could have had less repetitiveness and more development of their relationship.

Overall, it was a fun start to a series that I want to continue!

This was a bumpy ride, I had a lot of mixed emotions while reading this book.
There were points were I was contemplating DNF’ing.

This could have been a definite four star read but I just felt like there were aspects lacking in the story and writing.
There wasn’t a whole lot of world building which made it so hard to fall into the world. I couldn’t really imagine where everything was which was annoying.
There were holes in the story which left me a bit confused but not enough that I couldn’t get on with the story, it just left me with questions.

Now the FMC Raven I felt like she came off a bit immature I couldn’t actually believe she was my age (24) she felt more like 16 with all the giggling. She couldn’t make a single decision and stick to it. She’s a queen and yet didn’t act like it.

The cliffhanger is the sole reason I am picking up book 2 for sure, I was left very intrigued so I am so hoping that the writing and characters get better in book 2.
