This book was really good.
It had steam, it had magic, it had angst, it was a wonderful start to a fantasy series!
I really enjoyed the book worlds and all of these characters although sometimes I would have loved to hit them in the face because of dumb or poor decisions. Raven was a character for me that I liked at some points but at other points she just really would make poor decisions or not think about what she was doing and it made me kind of frustrated. I loved Zeke in the beginning; however, he just went a completely different direction and I’m really hoping it’s solved in the next book. Cade also made me angry, but I liked it for some odd reason… maybe it kept the story interesting.
I loved the book world and all the magic! I also love the mystery around Raven’s past and that truly kept me guessing! I can’t wait to learn more and what comes next in the series!

Kingdom of Flame and Fury follows 10 year old orphan Raven who was deemed the heir of Seolia, a kingdom within the Four Kingdoms. Raven has been ruling the Kingdom for fifteen years. She suffers with imposter syndrome and is hiding the fact that she possesses dark magic -something everyone in the kingdom believes no longer exists.
Along with her advisor/best friend and the mystery stranger, Raven has to navigate her growing powers, ruling a kingdom and a realm that doesn't want her on the throne.
This novel has all the typical tropes roled into one: friends to lovers, enemies to lovers etc.
I absolutely loved the magic in this novel as for me it was great to read, the darker side to the magic made the novel feel exciting having a more dangerous Raven was intriguing.
The love triangle, I know everyone has commented on this but I feel like it wasn't as bad as everyone was making. Yes love triangles can be tedious but it was fitting.
Cade had been friends with Raven for many, many years - it's bound to happen and Zeke, well he was this mysterious hot stranger and well who can blame Raven!
That said I do recognise why people have whinged about it because the back and forth of Cade not stepping up and Raven not exactly wanting him but not wanting anyone else to have him is a bit of a tedious trope setting.
Enough with that though, Whitney Dean did a fantastic job with writing this debut novel. The world building itself is so creative and fills the imagination. The different elements all woven into each other and the expansion on the history of Raven was a great insight into her character, the twists and turns this novel took were a little surprising and made the read take a fast pacing.
Despite all the other reviews, I believe that each reader should go into this open minded and read it for themselves, they maybe surprised by the outcome.
As a debut novel Kingdom of Flame and Fury was a great read and I can imagine that it's gonna get more fantastic as the books progress.

✨ ARC Review ✨
A Kingdom of Flame and Fury by Whitney Dean
——————————————————
“Twin flames are two halves of one soul. There’s an intense connection that can’t be replicated. There’s pain associated with flames, both people mirroring one another. When you find your twin, you can’t be apart from them without going a little mad.”

✨️Overall Story Opinion:
I'm OBSESSED! I love the world and character building as well as the general storyline the author has created. The female MC is a badass and I absolutely love those kind of characters.

This was hands down one of the best adult fantasy books I have read in a long long time. The amount of world building that went into this book was absolutely fantastic. It has everything! It has tension, magic, spice, love, and just all around a bad a$$ FMC. I am so beyond ready for book 2. That cliffhanger is going to live in my head rent free u til I can get some answers, lol.
