I had never read a bully romance before. I think I wouldn't dislike them if there wasn't love involved. I can't find it believable that you could treat someone so horribly and then they will love you at some point.
Maybe if I hadn't read such an extreme version? I don't know. This is very rambly. Let me begin.
So there's this private school and our main girl ends up there. These 3 boys (one of whom is the son of the largest donor to the school) run the school. And they are horrible. Especially to the people they deem the unspeakables. These people have no name and are abused so horribly you kind of wonder what in the hell the teachers and admin are doing. Don't worry, except for a young, hot teacher, no other adults really feature in these books. they just conveniently don't seem to exist at all. So anyway, these super hot dudes run the school. One is like a bossy OCD nightmare who loves S&M and being bossy during sex. And one is like the blonde haired dreamy jock. And one is the bad boy with the dark monster layer that wants to choke you during sex. Or at least that's what I imagine.
And our girl is perfectly hot and beautiful and supposedly trained by her badass survivor dad who is also a scientist. She's innocent but a slut(their words not mine). She's smart, but her scientist dad gets accused of letting loose this horrible virus and so she has to hide out at this rich school instead of traveling the world with him until he can clear his name.
Okay. So. Our scene is set. Everyone notices the new girl who is kind and loving and hates bullies. But she's attracted to the hot jock boy and they get it on and it's mindbending and he wants to keep her for his very own. Which is fine because the other two hot boys think she's boring and the teacher thinks she's a whiny rich girl. So anyway, while they're in the middle of sex, the dreamy jock gets a text from his dad that he for some reason decides to read? And he finds out that new girl's dad unleashed the virus that REVEAL killed his mom. And then he sex punishes her, and then abandons her.
He goes to talk to his bros and now they're interested because they freaking love torturing people, so they all decide to be huge heinous bullies to this unsuspecting girl who has done nothing and is really sweet and beautiful.
So that's what the entire book is. She gets tortured over and over and over and I think she tries to fight back? And she and the hot teacher like... make out? Anyway, I only read the second book, because I knew she was supposedly a bad ass and I wanted her to make them pay.
Anyway, this book was NOT boring, I'll give the authors that. You will keep reading in hopes that she will get her revenge on these aholes the hole time.

This book was recommended to me and I’m a little scandalized that Amazon is calling me out like this.
There’s some spelling and grammar errors here and there, but what held me onto the story was the abundance of surprising, fresh concepts and scenarios that I never saw coming. I haven’t consumed a book this fast since reading Anihilation. There’s something jovial and quirky about the writing that keeps me engaged the whole way through.

I am not sure what kind of crack the twisted sisters put into this book but oh my god. I had a hard time stopping and I am fully smitten with Tatum and these boys.
After reading the blurb I thought this would hit too close to home having worked in healthcare through this pandemic, but it was epic. I can’t wait for the story to continue and I will be starting book 2 like right now!

What is the "everything fried" Kyan likes for breakfast? We get repeated mentions of Saint's breakfasts, and Blake's, but Kyan's is only described as fried food. What kind of fried foods? Is he having chicken fingers? Deep fried oreos? Mozzarella sticks? What is breakfast fried food????
Yes, this is the big mystery of the book for me.

Honestly a really good story. I wanted something specifically to remind me of the chaos of the pandemic and despite how slow it is to get there, this book really delivers on that aspect. However, this book definitely isn't for squeamish readers. The MMCs in this book are a cacophony of rage and bad choices but it's what makes them all so plausible and real. The complexity of each of the 3 main boys and their dynamic with Tatum had me on the edge of my seat. I'm hoping the second book can give that level of complexity to the 4th man. Otherwise, it's a solid read.
