Incredibly descriptive regarding scents, and disturbing...it's a book you can't stop thinking about. As a self-described scent junkie, this was a delight to read, right up to the mind-boggling conclusion.

I'm only saying this because I totally would have tried to read this book in elementary school (perfume? murder?? yes please!!) but I recommend this book for more mature readers, due to the sexual/brutalistic nature of some of the scenes. It's not horribly explicit that I recall, but definitely some things I'm glad I wasn't thinking about when I was that age.

This is easily one of the most unique stories I've ever read, not just in plot but also execution. I had trouble putting it down; a near perfect read for me.

I must say, that was pretty spectacular.

When I first got this book I was wary, to say the least. It's unusual for me to like classics so I found this book to be an incredible surprise. It was incredibly descriptive and kept me engaged the entire time. Not to mention how fascinating the actual story was. This whole experience was so different from how I expected it to be.

Grenouille was a deeply disturbed person and yet I could not look away, his story was so captivating. Seeing how he was raised, how his life progressed and how his mind worked were not things I was expecting to love.

This book was just so well written, so well put-together, even enticing in a way. I hadn't realised the depth in which scents could be described and yet here I am, still blown away.

There were so many grotesque elements to this book which, while disturbing, definitely added to what was going on. It often felt like we were absorbed in the mind of Grenouille. Sigh, it was just fantastic.

I haven't the eloquence to articulate how much this book made me feel and all the thoughts I had throughout, so lets just say that I had an interesting time with it. Wowie.

Also one last thing but can we talk about how beautiful this cover is? Even if I hadn't liked the book, I would have been tempted to keep it for that reason alone.

Liked the olfactory description but felt a bit disjointed at times. Also a very interesting ending
