I love this book! Henry and Alex’s romance was so fun to see, they had great banter, and damn do I wish we had a woman like Ellen as president.

The book itself is fine. It was recommended to me as part of an attempt to get into the romance genre. However, between this book and a few other romance books, it turns out its not a genre I'm particularly interested in. On a technical aspect, I do think the dialogue tries a little too hard to be witty, but that could have been an effect of the audiobook itself.

If you're a fan of romance books, I would definitely give this one a try. If you're not sure if you're a fan of romance books, I'd still give this one a try. But if you're not a fan of romance, than this book isn't likely to tick that box for you.

This book was FUN. I laughed out loud - and how could anyone not do that when you've got passages like this:

The next slide is titled: EXPLORING YOUR SEXUALITY: HEALTHY, BUT DOES IT HAVE TO BE WITH THE PRINCE OF ENGLAND? She apologizes for not having time to come up with better titles. Alex actively wishes for the sweet release of death. The one after is: FEDERAL FUNDING, TRAVEL EXPENSES, BOOTY CALLS, AND YOU.

Our main characters, Mexican-American First Son Alex and Prince of England Henry were an interesting pair. In typical enemies-to-lovers fashion, they move past their differences in a flash and jump head-first into a steamy, all-consuming, secret lovers relationship spanning several continents and so much money spent on planes.

The lovey-dovey bits were extremely sweet - including long, romantic love letters explained in the book by Henry's dream to become an author. They also include cute quotes from historical gay figures to their lovers and their hilarious interpretation as "friendly letters between friends".

For those who enjoy spice, you've got plenty to look forward to in this one. Almost too much. For those who enjoy angst and longing, buckle in, this one was made for you.

There's a lot of politics talk in this one. As an European person I can't say I'm heavily invested in America's current state of affairs. To me this read like a gay book version of Parks and Rec - cute characters, fun stories, there's also some politics in the background somewhere that I glided over until the next good bit.

Overall, a sweet, fun book that I'm happy to have finally gotten around to reading.

Easy to read, sweet, idealistic escapism. The kind of book you read in three days and it leaves you smiling. Sometimes a bit cringe. Casey McQuiston really knows how to write good side characters.
