Thieves Gambit is a fun YA thriller following young master thieves. For fans of heists and con artists, this book is a great one. Our protagonist Ross enters into a cutthroat competition of multiple stages of thieving, deceiving and doing whatever it takes to win. It is fast paced and high stakes, making it a lot of fun to read. Like any good con story, each job includes twists that are hinted at but keep you guessing until it's finally revealed how they pull it off.
The characters were nuanced and likeable, particularly Ross. She grew up in a notorious family of thieves, manipulated and isolated, which makes it hard for her to trust her fellow thieves and form friendships for the first time. The ending comes in a dramatic rush. Events are wrapped up nicely, but it hints at so much more to come and I would really enjoy returning to this world to see what happens next in Ross' life.
Thanks to NetGalley for providing me a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I think Kayvion Lewis delivered with a fun, fast paced action-mystery heist story! With elements of the well know trope "kids fight to death to win big prize" only a little less deadly.
She's given us a diverse cast from different cultures and continents, each with their own little thing as a thief and with motives and intentions I couldn't see from the start and were also quite unsure about throughout the book, which is great for the suspension of it all.
Loved the romance and friendship that formed during the Gambit, also the rivalries and betrayals and the twist at the end had me hitting my pillow in disbelief and anger.
I have to say though, some coincidences that helped the MC were a bit too convenient and also maybe the characters were a little crazy skilled, but it's fiction so I don't care that much about it being a little unrealistic at times
So it has done it all and I cannot give it any less than 4 stars✨

This was a very interesting read. The main character developed throughout the book with the challenges in which she had to face. The writing style was very interesting and I did enjoy them.
Thanks so much to NetGalley and Penguin Young Readers Group and Nancy Paulsen Books for the Digital Copy of this book!
This YA heist thriller was so fun and I didn’t want it to end! I loved playing the game right along with Ross and her friends to see how things would turn out. The characters were fun and the heists kept you at the edge of your seat. The last third of the book was so fast paced I couldn’t stop and didn’t know where things were going to turn next! I can’t wait for the next installment and hope I can get an advanced copy of it because I just want to know what happens next!

This was such a fun read! If you like The inheritance games, heists, games with deadly twists and turns, teens pitted against each other, then this is the book for you! I’m going to dive into the second book immediately.

Wow wow wow. What a great read to finish the year with!
This book was so amazing and once I got invested it was difficult to put the book down. I loved all the little thieves so much and it was very fun to be stressed about the success of the heists alongside them. The plot was so good, and the writing was incredible! I need to read book 2 stat with the way this one ended like nowwwww. The competition, the schemes, the friendships, the betrayals, the love, all of it was so perfect!!
I will say parts were predictable and it took a minute to get me into the story, but wow. It's one of the best reads of 2024 for me.
