I adore the Ender & Bean books. They have been some of my favorites for years. But this was a mostly very boring book. I felt I was reading all of Card's backstory for the last few chapters of Enders Game, much of it poorly written. Finally about 6 chapters in, we got some actual new narrative but on the whole I found it to be a poorly written epilogue to my beloved books. Card constantly broke the "4th wall", pulling me out of the story to explain that a sewage system carries away poo, or overdoing his Shakespeare references.
Saving up my full thoughts for a mega-review of the entire series. Diverting read; basically fills in the gap between chapters 14 and 15 of Ender's Game.
It is hard to say which of the series I like more- since technically they are two different series that I have read like one- Ender and Bean are both great characters and it is interesting how both series cover about the same time period but you get two very different points of view. Ender is very smart and has become obsessed with the Formics, making a new plot adding to the many many kids from Battle School.
A good follow in from Enders Game. Note this is jnstede to be read after the shadow series not as I did before shaddow of the giant.
I love Ender's universe...my favorites are Speaker for the Dead and [b:Shadow of the Giant|8647|Shadow of the Giant (Shadow Series, Book 4)|Orson Scott Card|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1165699277s/8647.jpg|4088] (which is more a Bean novel), if that tells you anything. Anyway, I'm excited to continue reading more about what happens right after Ender defeats the Buggers. I like seeing more of Ender's parents, who are super smart but don't let it on to their kids (why?...also why is everyone in Ender's family so darn manipulative and think they know it all about things *and* people, including each other? or maybe that's just a human condition).
Worthy addition to the Ender Universe books. Nice bridge between the Ender and Bean series. The part on the Indian colony seemed rushed though, and anti-climactic.
I want to find out what happens with Bean's other kids in space!

Although, at times, this book read like some sort of appendix for years that we knew Ender had lived but didn't know what he did, the book ends up even further deepening the character of the immortal Ender Wiggin and tying up some other plot threads nicely.
Loved how t novel tied up the loose ends and fleshed-out chapters 14 and 15 of Ender's Game. Would have given this 5 stars if not for the weak beginning of the book and the rushed resolution of Arkanian Delphiki's storyline.
Finished this and went straight on to re-read 1984. The similarities...
I love this book, I love that it explaines so much more than Ender's Game does. In this you get mostly the full story, and a deeper look into one of my all time favourite characters (Ender). And you also get to know other characters a bit better as well.
I have only read Ender's Game and even tough this is not counted as the second book it really is great to read it right after finishing Ender's Game so everything is still fresh in mind.
I simply love it. It's so well written and simply brilliant.

I wish I knew why I'm so 'meh' about the Enderverse...
