The characters aren’t always likeable, and won’t be everyone’s favourites, but that’s what makes it real. We all make mistakes, overreact, jump to conclusions, and get a bit annoying. Doesn’t mean we ruin things or don’t deserve love.
This book made me cry. Which I hate, but I’ll forgive. For the most part fairly lighthearted and relaxing!
Not a lot of world building, which isn’t necessarily a fault, but I personally couldn’t always pinpoint a good visualization of where the story takes place.

In terms of story, the two books were kinda similar: small town setting, both mc and love interest are at low points in their lives / struggling with trauma and have to find out how they can show up for each other. Which is cute.
And even though a lot of conflict hinged on miscommunication, it was well done and didn't seem contrived.

I read the uk version, but I would be very interested in reading the us one, as this is a book I could very much imagine myself rereading.
I’ve read this in the summer, and even though the book is taking place in the summer I think it would be a good read any time of the year.
